e-E-Flite Blade CP CX 400-3D > E-flight blade and Futaba Radio

I understand that the blade can be controled by Futaba radios (9c).
I dont have the correct crystal yet...but the question is can you control the pitch curve and throttle curve via the radio's interface? And since the futaba has digital trims I am not so keen on using the throttle trim as a means of adusting the pitch curve as done on the stock radio.

Any hints and tips regarding this set up would be great..for instance what swash plate mode...do you use ccpm or std and the 4 in 1 converts it...stuff like that.

I guess those who have done it...what did ya do and did you gain flexibility in adjustments via the radio?

I'm kinda talking out my @ss here, but looking at the heli I would think using 120 degree CCPM setup on a computer radio would give you independent throttle and pitch curve with the stock electronics. Haven't tried it myself yet, but I plan on going to the 2-in-1 mixer and my own radio equipment (Rx & gyro.) That will for sure give me separate throttle/pitch curves, so I don't see why the stock stuff wouldn't work the same.....

Somebody try and post your results!!

Yes, Using the 120DEG swash setup works, but you will have to adjust the swash AFR in the basic menu to get the correct servo movement. I will post later on what settings worked for me, as I am at home now and my radio and heli are at work. (I get to fly helis at work, how cool is that?) Anyway, I will post later today and any questions can be PM'd to me and I will do my best to answer them. I know I am new to the site, but I hope I can help.

Gyro Sensitivity: Kept at stock settings of 50.0% up and down.
I adjusted the gyro on the heli down to about 50% of full motion on the pod. This worked for me, but they are all factory tested and may be set up in a different position.

I also adjusted my pitch control rods for each blade OUT one full turn. I found this to really help with the jumpy pitch movement throughout the pitch curve.

Is there a kit that do not have any electronic at all?
I already have a Hummingbird FP that I can take the electronic over.

The Blade CP will have an airframe set for about $100, but it isn't out yet, and I don't expect to see them until later this summer. If you want to check a more accurate ETA the part number is: EFLH1101

The Bare Bones Airframe contains the complete Airframe with motors and blades. It is missing all the radio equipment (no reciever, speed controls, gyro, or servos).

Cool... Thanks! Looks like the Futaba single-conversion xtals work... I'll have to give one a try so I can use my 9C with my Blade!

futaba single conversion is a yes.

the settings above...a no
I had to change the settings a lot to get the radio to work...it might be a starting point for you though...
this winter when I have nothing to do...I am going to reprogam from scratch...cause there are things I don't like about the set up now..but it is working so I live with it...ie sub trims way out of whack and stuff.

Could you please explain how the value in the "Swash AFR" come about. I been searching and reading on the subject and still do not understand. When I set all 3 setting to "0" nothing work.
Please explain how to setup Swash AFR is possible.

Setting your swash AFR to 0 is like setting your servo end points to 0. So nothing is supposed to happen.

Swash AFR is like end points for heli swash plates. Changing from negative to positive rates - is like reversing the servo direction.

From the Futaba manual: "Swash AFR reduces/increases/reverses the rate (travel) of the AIL, ELEV, and PITCH functions, adjusting or reversing the motions for ALL SERVOS INVOLVED for that particular function."

So SWASH AFR is like END POINT and REVERSE settings for the WHOLE swash.

blueline,

I use a Futaba 7CHP with my Honeybee 2 CP (same heli). The setup should be the same. Here's what I've got:

For DR, EXP I have the AIL and ELE set at 140%, RUD set to 100%, I have the EXP set to 0 on and -5 depending on switch A setting.

Endpoints are all left at 100%

For servo REVERSE, channels 1 and 3 are reversed. The rest are normal.

SWASH is set to HR3 with AIL=65%, ELE=65%, PIT=50%.

For PARAMETER set MODUL to PPM

My Normal throttle curve is (P5 to P1) 100, 85, 70, 35, 0

My Normal pitch curve is (P5 to P1) 85, 70, 60, 47.5, 40

REVO is set to INH since the mixer does this for you.

Additionally TH-CRV 1 is set to 80, 70, 50, 70, 80. TH-CRV 2 is set to 75, 75, 75, 40, 0. PI-CRV 1 is set to 85, 62.5, 40, 25, 10. PI-CRV 2 85, 74.5, 63, 51.5, 40. But I haven't really played around with these too much.

This was the first setup that I did with my 7CHP. So looking back I can't remember why I did some of the things this way. But it works and the Honeybee flys the same as it does with the stock TX.
