e-Ark X-400 - MX400 > Will T-rex tail-blade holders fit the X400?

Forgot to use lock-tite on the tail-blade holders and one of them got loose and broke on the first flight.
Do you think that the T-rex tail-blade holders will fit on the X-400 tail-housing?
Is the tail-shaft on the X-400 the same diameter as the one on the T-rex?

Regards,

Yes, the Trex blade holders will fit, but you should use the new XL version. They are a lot stronger and they are molded in black. And while you're at it, you might as well replace the tail pitch lever set up with the Trex 450XL parts. You'll find it is way more precise. Good Luck!

the tail pitch slider for the x400 will not work properly with the t-rex blade assembly.
Also the linkage is slightly different. You need to change the slider and tail rotor - also, you will have to reverse
the servo direction on your transmitter since they work opposite mechanically.

I had the same thought. I ordered the T-Rex XL tail rotor assembly with the idea of putting it on my X-400 (mostly due to the nice metal balls). While it mounts just fine thanks to using the same diameter shaft, the pitch assembly won't work; the angle that the ball links meet the balls ar has them running over the mounting screws (not to mention they're a short stare from popping off).

Do you where the T-Rex XL tail pitch assembly can be had?

The axis was not exactly the same dimension, not on my one X400 anyway. The axis is a little tiny bit larger on the X400.

But it works fine for me now.

issdriver,

i do the same with my new x-400 and i did a little bit of dremmeling the portion that hit each others.

im still in the process of building it..but can you tell me if this trex xl tail slider will work great on x-400 ? seems to me the setup more precise and tighter...but i dont know until i fly this setup

thanks

I was talking to an Align sales rep last week and he informed me that he expects the tail slider will be available in another week or two. I'm going to change all the tail components on my X400 over the the Trex XL tail (i.e. output shaft, slider and tail grips). I'm pretty sure the Trex components will work with the X400 tail case. But if it doesn't, the Trex case will fit on the X400 boom. I know this because I put a Trex carbon boom and Trex carbon tail fins on my X400 (fits and looks great).

I'm not sure how Dremeling it would help. The problem with the the T-Rex XL grips is that they come off the tail feathering shaft asix at about a 45 degree angle. The X-400 balls line-up parallel to the feathering shaft axis. As the tail pitch-slider to grip ball-links are fixed on the X-400 (unlike the T-Rex where they are attached with screws and can thus be adjusted) they don't mate at an agreeable angle.

I'm pretty sure the T-Rex XL pitch slider would work on the X-400. I've got the MFIS tail case (marketed to work with both the T-Rex and X-400) and the stock slider, lever, etc work great with it. Presumably teh same could be said for the XL slider.

That said, I'm really, really hoping that MFIS releases a tail pitch slider and level assembly to go with their drop-dead gorgeous tail case!
