e-Ark X-400 - MX400 > aileron / elevator issues

Hey guys,

Just got my new kit (mostly) built with the stock frame.

I was wondering if anyone else has seen these issues and what you did about it:

1) The aileron servo arms hit the inside of the canopy with any negative pitch. The only things I can see to do is to mount the aileron servo under the servo mount to lower it by about 4mm. Or I could move the range, which would give non-linear travel.

2) The elevator had about 30 degrees of slop as seen from the swash plate! Turns out where the elevator lever meets the elevator torque lever holes aren't a good fit at all. I had to CA them in place. I don't have a lot of confidence in this (ah'hem) "arrangement" for flying 3D. I'm hoping I just got a bad elevator or torque lever that can be replaced. Anyone else seen this?

3) The collective servo has a really bad angle on the pitch lever. It's probably workable, but I don't want this baby popping off. The rod isn't long enough to bend for a better angle.

4) There's a cross-coupling between collective and elevator due to the arrangement of the links. It gives forward elevator at the extremes of pitch. It's not much in the normal range, but I'm wondering if people have noticed this in flight.

I'm using Futaba 3107s on aileron/elevator and an HS56 on collective.

Thanks for any replies.

Hi,

I have the same issues 1 & 2.
I am using 3 s3107 (I extended the pitch arm). I don't understand how they can make the canopy fit on this without making a big hole on the top!

For issue 2, I had the same bad arm. I glued some small wood bit inside the lever to make it a tight fit.

Concerning issue 3, I followed the setup advice on x400tuning, link http://www.x400tuning.com/setup1.htm and had no problem.

1) I have mounted the servo under the servo mount. The servo arm should be short. Mine is total 15mm from z-bend to z-bend. I have adjusted the rodlength to the swash, so by minus 9 degrees, the pitchrod balllink just touches the canopy. (this might be Your next problem)

2) Lucky me, I don`t have this problem. Fits OK

3) The pitch rod arm should be mounted inside the servoarm
and the servo should be mounted inside the frame. I have bend the arm a little just to give 2mm.

4) Let`s keep it to ourselves. Not many will ever know the difference!
Othervice, upgrade to eCCPM and many of the problems here mentioned will be solved, furthermore it saves some weight and
make the whole hele balance better.

Thanks suc for your feedback. Mounting the servo under the tray fixed issue 1 easily.

Thanks for the advice guys. Hopefully this thing will be flying this weekend!

I mounted the servo under the mount and it works well.

I'm thinking about mounting the rest of the servos *inside* the frame, which
would fix the bad angles. A lot of stuff has to be taken apart to do so. More
likely I'll switch to the carbon CCPM frame in the process

I ordered another lever set, so hopefully that will fix the slop.

For Item #2, you may want to try flipping the torque lever arm over, that fixed it for me.
