Expecting my new Vigor CS over Christmas. I am wanting to get ready for the project. I hear that this is one of THE best building kits out. Any areas of concern?

Also, since this is my first 60 what gyro is recommended to get the job done. I am still hovering and mild forward flight but of course want to get into 3D. Shold I go for the GY502 or the GY401 or what?

Also, what should I get for blades? I really don't want to tear up a nice set of MS or V-blades being new.

I have a JR 8103H radio w/649 PCM recv. Local flier selling me a 10 tank OS .60 WC & Hatorri 2-piece for $200. So, except for the above I am set.

Thanks in advance.

The 401 is more than adequate.

GY401

Simon,

Thanks for the reply.

Looking at your list of goodies below your signature indicates that you have some experience with this bird. I am curious why you choose the 601 if the 401 is more than adequate.

thanks

Payton,
I would go with the V-blades, NHP's, or the MS's. I know they are more expensive but the Vigor CS is not actually the cheapest heli either. I had a friend that used woodies from an Ergo 60 to break in the YS in his Hirobo Eagle 98. One blade was thrown and the Eagle was wrecked (not a pretty sight). Just a shame that cheap blades caused a horrible wreck. And no the headspeed was not too high. It was only at 1650 on the tach. My suggestion: get a used raptor 60 to practice 3d on then try them on the CS. The pucker factor is a lot lower trying 3d on the raptor in which a crash would cost probably 4x less (that's why I keep my raptor 60). As for gyro, the 401 is plenty.

Alex,

I got a R30 that I am spending most of my time on until I get the kit built. The R30 will take most of the beating. Thought about getting a beater 60 but couldn't justify another beater when I have the R30.
I will go ahead and spring for the MS or V-Blades since they are so rigid and I hope to do less crashing on this bird.

I picked up some 9204s (~130oz/in,.19) for cyclic/collective yesterday. Couldn't see where the digitals would provide much better performance relative to the price I got them at.

Also ordered a GY401 since no one has much bad to say about it.

Can't wait to get started!

Good luck. The 9204's are a great servo. I was going to buy 9202's or the 9204's for my Fury. Most people told me to go with digital 9252's for CCPM use so I figured why not? You're going to love the Vigor. Especially if is windy outside. My raptor 30 used to scare me on windy days. It would just get thrown around and slingshot when going with the wind. The Vigor inspires lots of confidence since it flies so solid. Keep us updated on how you like the CS.

I just built a Vigor Cs and flew it yesterday for the first time. It was pure joy to build and it flies great!!!! You will love this helicopter, until you wreck it. then get out your pocketbook.
