Kyosho Caliber 30 & 60 - Concept - Nexus > Caliber 30 Questions and Thoughts

Hello Chris and all the Guys

I am looking to get a Caliber 30 myself but spare parts for this heli is tough to
come by in the US. Can you point me to the right source(s) for parts. As we all
know, Tower is not the greatest for support and knowledge in this area. Do you
or anyone have a sample list of costs for all common spare parts for this
helicopter? If you fly enough--Crash(s) will happen!

Another thing, I am trying to locate is Correct's website in with english text--I like
to see all the nice options parts available for this heli. Chris- with your
connections--how seriously--- Is Kyosho committed to the Caliber 30? If they are
and we have to assume this--How can they let one of their biggest distributor be
without spare parts. Do you have a due date for the "All Hop-ups" Caliber 30
pictured at your website. What is your personal thoughts between the Hirobo
"Skiddo" 30 vs. Cal 30-- I know they both have their strong and weak points as
you mentioned. From the forum-the Hirobo 30 is under power with OS32 and
scary with OS50---Would a OS 46 be a good compromise for this heli.

Thanks

PS. Chris-- I really enjoyed your website--I am there for information all the times.
Others will "borrow" your materials because you have it first! Yes, they should
ask for permission! It is just a matter of Respects and Professionalism.

My first flight on my Caliber 30 I broke a TR blade. I got very lucky as the crystal came out of the rx and it hovered around my yard for close to 30 seconds before setting down. Anyway, I checked Tower site and many parts are listed but very few are in stock. They say most will be in end of september.
My main concern is that the Caliber 30 won't survive a hard crash very well making it rather expensive to repair. I am planning to buy a Venture kit just to have on hand when I trash my Caliber and can't get parts.
Otherwise I am very happy with my Caliber 30. I put on a set of floats this past week and flew it from lake Cumberland in Kentucky while I was on vacation. I had a ball with it although you have to be careful when spooling up. It piros on the water till the tr has enough revs control the tail. I have S148's in mine till I can decide what servos to get for it and flying with ECCPM on my Futaba 9chp. Very happy so far.
The only assembly issue ia have is there is no way to treak the runout of the clutch/fan assembly. Mine has over .003" and is definitely causing some vibration. If I ever find a cure I'll post it. Tower listed the clutch shaft as not available till end of september as well. I would have bought one just to try to get rid of the runout.

cal.30 parts

cyber heli has parts for the cal but they also have a list of all parts made by correct for the caliber. Its been several months since I ordered from cyberheli so I not sure how their page is setup now, but it was there when I last checked.

Though I fly for MA, I did research the parts issue on the C30, since local guys will sometimes ask me about a model other than a MA product, particularly as a starter kit. I like to be able to give some kind of intelligent answer.

Early on, I checked the Tower website, and all of the parts were in stock. Then most all of the parts went on BO. The best I can guess is that large portion of the supply that GP brought in initally went out to all of the dealers so that Tower's supply couldn't be replenished. Of course I know that Tower and GP are working from the same large complex, at least in Champaign, but Tower can't keep all the GP stock for mail order sales.

Anyway, Heliproz seems to have most of the major crash items in stock. Once GP gets their dealers stocked and gets ahead of the demand curve a little, I would hope that parts wouldn't be a problem.

From what I've seen of this model flying, it does a nice job. Very quiet, lightweight, very aerobatic. It's no Nexus........................
