Hawk SE

Hi Concept

The problem that Isaac is refering to is an old one from the 46/50 size Falcon SE with the 50 engine, when the OS50 was new and we were adjusting it too rich the backfiring at start up of this engine would eventualy break the fan or start shafts. With the engine set properly or with a start wand with a built in one way bearing it is not a problem. You will have no such problems with the 32 in the Hawk.

With the newest Hawk SEv2 got from Heli-world, there shouldn't be any problems.

Follow the manual carefully, make sure things fit. If there's a discrepancy between the writing in the manual and illustrations, usually the illustration is correct. Don't skimp out, read the words in the manual, they provide some invaluable tips for the longevity of the heli based on how well you build it.

When you build the tail, follow the instructions carefully. Even if you can't see it, the thrust BB's in the tail have a smaller racetrack and a bigger one. Putting this on backwards will not look pretty in the air, and you won't see the problem on the ground either.

Once you have the tail fully built, you may notice the pitch slider binding against the bell-crank. You can add a washer or spacer or piece of fuel tubing into the output shaft of the tail to prevent this. So don't locktite it until you've done this mod.

As far as upgrades go. You probably won't need any to get it to fly well. But. I like having a header tank, and a head button.

The guys who like 3D, torque tube drive upgrade is highly recommended. With the wire-drive, you probably want to replace/change the wire every 100-200 flights if you are hard on the tail.

Everything else is pretty much optional on this heli. If you have been flying for a while, you can also choose not to put on the flybar weights, this will make rolls and loops much much faster & tighter.

He is getting the Hawk SE so he is already getting the Carbon Tube drive upgrade

Torque-tube drive

Isaac,

The C/F Torque-Tube system is only stock on the current 50 size machines (Falcon SEV2 and Raven 50) not on the 30 size units (Hawk IV, SE or Raven 30) or any of the older 46/50 Falcons.

ohhh My Mistake..... Sorry

I was thinking that the only difference between the Hawk 30 SE and the Falcon 50 SE was the engine size..............

Sorry,
