Stolen? Missing Helis or Equip > (UPDATE:LOCATED) Predator Gasser & HCS Camera System STOLEN in Houston

Location: Houston, Texas

Yesterday while I was out flying my blimp, my Predator Industrial Gasser was stolen along with my HCS camera mount w/ servos, blackwidow A/V downlink, receiver, and a Sony 8MM Camcorder that was attached to it at the time. They also took a car battery charger, a used 275x40x17 Kumo tire, a tool box with an assortment of home theater specific installation tools, a DeWalt 18volt drill and other odds & ends.

I don't care about the tools and the rest but I have no insurance and the loss of my gasser and camera system really stings... I think it was probably someone that lives or frequents my apartment complex and there was no forced entry into my garage which leaves me to believe it may have inadvertently been left open. We have cats and sometimes they trigger the door to stop / reverse and we don’t always stick around and watch it close.

The helicopter is one of two (that I am aware of) industrial converted Predator Gassers w/810mm blades in Texas. It has on it the custom painted purple canopy offered by century that has a black checker mixed in with purple. It has brand new (recently installed) Futaba 9252 servos… 3-D fins with purple anodized screw caps.. A K&N style air filter.. And the frames that are still metal (it was also upgraded to the Carbon Fiber main frames) have been anodized black.. It definitely stands out.

Oh, and it is missing the century chomed gasser muffler since I had it off the heli.

I’m offering a $500.00 reward for its return and more if I can get my hands on the person that took it.

Here is a link to a picture of it:

Please PM/Email me if you see or hear about it.

THAT F'N SUCKS

May the Hounds of Hell pick up their trail and worry them until the end of time.

Will be keeping a CLOSE eye out for it. You can have what is LEFT of them if I get to them first !

To clarify, the following stretched P-gassers I know of in Texas are as follows:

Tim Hutcherson, Taylor (Austin) Texas
Ron Lund, Corpus Christie
Myself.

Its a small world, and that is an unusual helicopter. Lets all saddle up and help find this thing.

I have some people on my suspect list that live close by. There are a bunch of street racers who's mommies are most likely footing the bill to live here.. It's not cheap and they are always wrenching and wandering about... I mean, there were other things worth a lot more than a used tire of a Trans Am, an auto battery faster charger and tools.. They didn't take the other raptor I had on the shelf needing some parts..

Fortunately, they didn't get my good Raptor as it wasn't there.. Good with the bad, I suppose..

Yeah, I filed a police report. I also found out there had been more break-ins than I had known about. They hired a security guard a while back but I think he mainly works the nights and I am quite sure this was a quick in and out.

Rajun: Sorry to hear of your loss, I'd consider setting up your downlink receiver to a TV and VCR for many hours of the day. The crooks are bound to turn the downlink on to play with it, and inadvertently will record their face/apartment on your VCR in your apartment. This evidence will certainly qualify for a search warrant. If the downlink had sound and you leave the receive end TV on high volume you may hear it come on while you are at home. Timing their activity before they get rid of it may be a challenge, but I think you have a somewhat solvable case due to a local suspect pool, and the fact that this item is unique.

Assuming, of course, that the video downlink will reach your receiver. But then again, the crooks may not be as dumb as we think. I too have a predator carbon gasser. I keep it stored on a dresser in my bedroom. I have camera surveilance outside my apartment. If there is an economical means of putting a sattelite tracking contraption on that think I will!

Put a video camera in your garage.

Put your Raptor where your gasser used to be.

Leave your garage open.

Hopefully, you'll capture the same thief on video. And if it's not the same thief, I'm sure he knows of the other thief who stole your gasser.

Thieves aren't dumb. But remember, they're greedy.

That sucks big time about the theft. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about the loss. I'll be looking out for it. I would let some of the heli guys know that frequent Tom Bass to watch out for it since that place is not an out of the way field.

True, but thieves, in general, do not hit the same place more than once. My appartment was burglarized 4 weeks ago, everything was stolen, and I didn't have renter's insurance. They usually work in groups, hit several places simultaneously, and never come back. So as far as counting on them to return, it's a lost cause. They know that if they return, someone will be waiting for them.

It does hit you below the waist whenever one of your heli-guys gets ripped off like that. We all should watch out for each other's helis and go after the crooks whenever there is such opportunity.

*UPDATE*
Heli has been found. I should be getting it back here shortly. I'll be back with the details after I wrap this up... It was the neighborhood 13-14 year old clique that beat me for my stuff. And one of their moms paid me a visit.
Oh man, I can't tell you how much better I feel!
