that sounds great as I am most eager to finally get to fly my Corona and not not have to be scared of which direction the tail will go next. I also have a Honeybee CP2 and thought that was a bad one, but it is a dream to fly compared to the Corona, and that says a lot.

I think im going to try and get the whole tail control a little stiffer so the gyro doesnt have to deal with any potential slop. I hope to achieve this with the use of several small ball links, and some form of a better rod guidance.

Anyone got some ideas on how to improve the transition from servo horn to heck rod? Would be much apreciated.

Also I think the Z-Links from the flybar to featherplate are a bit crummy. Someone know how to get the slop out of those? I dont think you can squeeze ball links in there, right?

Also, what is a brushless corona supposed to weigh? Mine is a whopping 49oz. (1390gr). Im running an Astro 020 motor, a separate BEC, and several upgrades from Chopper-1 (like a Ti Boom).

Im sorry if im doing a little sidetracking here. :P

I had a closer look today when trying to fly my Corona with the bad gyro. I could se that the tail servo was having a hard time. It moved back and forth pretty fast when I throttled up and it just became worse the more throttle I put in. Not to wonder why the tail is so wild when the input from the gyro was so bad. It almost looked like someone was moving the rudderstick left/right rapidly and that at a gain rate less than 40%

iceman,

I have had some family trouble this week and not been able to into the corona stuff and gyro for you yet. I'll try to test another Gyro this weekend and when make you an offer for it and the blade grips. I'll alos test my Align HH gyro to see if it works!?!?

I hope things are ok again.
About the gyro testing, it would be nice if you took the time to test the functionality. I have now switched over to the Mega motor and I could se some improvements. The tail did not wiggle that wild/fast, but still it wiggles left/right. I really noticed the power difference. It almost took off on 30% throttle. If I could sort out the tailproblem I think I will be very happy with the Corona with this setup.

Hi all, a little update on the gyro problems I have had recently. I have now bought a GY240 gyro from a fellow RCG member. I mounted it into the Corona and guess what happened. The tail stays put and the wiggling is gone. Now I really feel things are going good on the Corona. The GY240 together with the Mega 16-15-3 motor seems to work pretty good and it hovers on half throttle and the wild tail now stays where I want it to, JOHOOO!!!!

Good. Glad that worked. Most of us starting out with a Corona usually get the Futaba 240 or 401 gyro, so initial tail problems are infrequent. Now you can start flying and have fun. ;-)

Yes at last I can now concentrate on getting it in the air and start learning to fly. Now it really is smooth and it seems like the Corona should be a great beginners heli (with the right setup).

Hi all

I must report back about my Corona. What a great helicopter it is. I have now gotten to fly it for a couple of hours and I grow to like it more and more the more I fly it. I thought of mounting training gear on her but that was totally unnessecary as the lift off was just a matter of putting in enough throttle and up she goes, no problems whatsoever. I have now adjusted the new gyro and the tail now holds rock solid. No wiggling and funny behaviour anymore and she hovers like a champ, no need to say that I am very happy. This must be one of the best beginner helicopter out there. What do you guys say?

After having dealt with 1 (practicly 2, with the huge amount of parts that broke all the time) micro helicopter, the corona feels like the servo horns are nolonger made of puddin. Everything just feels so.. tight, compared to the other heli ive tried. She actually listens to what im telling, and doesnt spazz out if I give her a good hiyah! I felt like I was actually in charge of my heli for once, instead of feeling like I can "kinda influence" the path of it.

The first time I had a little room to really get her going, I lifted off and started out with a little hover into the wind. She doesnt seem to be at all bothered by the wind! Then I gave it a little momentum, and got the shock of my life when I saw howfast this thing can dart off. It can do above parkflyer headspeed, perty impressive for a heli that seems a little sluggish at first look. I mean look at the demo videos at LMH, they make it seem like the heli cant do much more then running speed, so I wasnt exactly expecting this bird to hit warp 6.

Actually, if someones interested, heres a video of my first pack doing more then just hovering and finetuning in my backyard.

Enjoy.

EDIT
Meh, this forum is being a real b... about posting a link that has spaces in it... Anyone got any idea how to post them? For now, just copypaste it and put an H infront of it.

Great video, looks good in the air. I wondered to get my hands on a "Airwolf" canopy for my Corona, I have always wanted that one. Anyone knows if those canopys are awailable in the US? I have searched around but so far I havent found any.

What kind of landing gear do you have on your Corona?

An airwolf is essentially a Bell 222 helicopter with a nice camouflage. But I woulnd reccomend them to a beginner flyer. Those bodies are expencive, and youll probably break a canopy or 2 sometime soon. Once you get into the "I feel confident" phase, we all get a bit cocky and overdo it a little at some point.

Oh, and my skids are from JR. Nice thick struts and a batteryholder (I dont use the holder though).

You are probably right about the "cocky" thing. It is just that you feel so confident with the Corona and so far I have been lucky and havent crashed it yet, and surprisingly no parts have been damaged. When I think of that microheli I bought a little time back I get angry that I wasted such a huge amount of money on constantly broken parts. No more microheli for me.
