X-400 electrics...

What electrics are you guys puttin into your x-400?? i've just ordered one one from Microhelico, and im trying to decide which motor/esc/servos to use...

so far ive decided on the following:

HA2025 : Tornado/Himax 2025 Brushless Motor
PHX-25 : Phoenix-25 Brushless Speed Controller
JRC70035 : JR R700 Mini PPM 7Ch Rx

Any comments on my choice would be appriciated.. but im still missing servos and a gyro... help!!

Zhap - after putting a Futaba GY401 on both my Zoom and my T-Rex, I don't think I'd fly with anything else (other than perhaps a CSM 420 micro or 560 micro). It's a little bit chunky for this size of heli, but VERY good.

I also use JR R700's for both, and they're great.
I have Hitec HS55's for cyclic on the Zoom, which I've found to be a bit iffy when it comes to centring.
I have eCCPM on my Rex, and use 3 x GWS Pico F+BB's. They seem to be quite adequate.
The tail servo for both is an Hitec HS50, which seems to work fine on the Zoom but struggles with the Rex.
If I had to do it all again I'd go with Hitec HS56's all round from the start. They come highly recommended.

One last thing - don't forget a LiPo warning device. The very best one I've come across is the HRPoly-X and it's here: www.customidea.com

I hope ark isn't putting out "beta" stuff out into the Asian markets like Align did with their swashes. RC-Mushrooms a great place I get a lot of my exotic rc car stuff from them. They do though have a tendency to state some stuff that's in stock when it's not really. Input error I suppose.

Oh yeah for those of you who aren't afraid/hate the Euro heliaddicts in the UK has the x400 kit for 98 Euros or $128.35 USD and they ship ultrafast too!!! Great service . Ordered last friday afternoon and my kit came in yesterday morning!!!

But it's normal. Usually it needs 2-3 days (They are lazy maybe)

im hoping to order my parts today so that they maybe with me for the weekend.

I have a GY401 on my old trusty Ergo 50 . i was considering trying it on my x-400 but thought it might be too big, but if you say it works well, i'll certainly have to give it a try.

As for servos, unless anyone out there has anything negative to say, i think i'll take your advice and order a full set of HS56. i too have read good reviews on them. Are they fast enough to be used as a tail servo? or should i consider another servo for the tail??
Wheres the best place in the UK to get these servos from ? i normally order from Midlands..


That LiPo warning device looks good. i like the idea of loging battery voltage and then downloadin it to the PC... im a bit geeky like that..


Oh, and sorry, no, my name's not Neil, (its joe) but does that mean there is a guy called Neil living someplace near me with an x-400??

Smash- Hong Kong does not have an official distributer for Ark! Ark is working on a if you have the money you can order from us basis. There are currently at least 5 shops importing stuff into Hong Kong seperately RC-mushroom being one of them.

Waigo Hobby has just started a price war on Ark stuff to basically turn over the T-Rex market. Just bought my X400 tonight at USD 105 with one FREE 3s Align 1900mah Li ion pack thrown in!

sheesh $105!!!! and whoops my bad on the pound euro thingy

Yeah I got my kit and I got 3 sets of the washout arms and only 1 set of the mixing arms . Ordered an extra kit for spares though .
And good thing I did because as soon as I set it up, while I was trying to dail in my gyro, I landed a little too hard. It was a straight up down kind of thing and the head just broke right off!!! It snapped right about the seesaw. Anyhow it looks like the head area seems to be the weakest link, as the plastics are a bit on the cheap looking side a whole lot of flash on all the parts.

The futaba 3107/3103 by far for the stock setup. The 3107's are cheaper & lighter then the 56's with the same torque/speed. The 3103 are lighter with the same torque/speed. Both center much better then the 56. And seem much smoother on the cyclic too. For ccpm, the only problem the 3107/3103's will have is that their servo arms maybe too small for perfect alignment to the swash.

Also get some 2mm CF rods and make a CF pushrod instead of the wire it'll make the tail hold better and more responsive.
