John has a lot of groupies here. Look at all the effort he has gone through and what he has brought to the party.

What are you saying?

I think four stroker may be a bit miffed the futaba's aren't perfect yet although they have bought a good product to the table as John has pointed out and probably doesn't like to be proved wrong judging by his rather smarmy answer.
Nice one four stroker.
John has gone to a lot of trouble to test equipment for everyone.

No radio is perfect. If there was such a thing as a perfect radio there wouldn't be so many different radios available on the market.

While many may split hairs over which radio is better on paper the truth is many, if not all, pilots won't be able to tell the difference among the current crop of high end DSM2 and FASST radios.

Like many things in life you spend your money and your take your chances.

Wow !! Is all i can say, I thought i would read through this and learn a little about my radios until i realized there is 50 plus pages.....so thought i would fast forward to the latest and post.
John you have REALLY done a lot of work. I am grateful for people like you to take time to do this kinda stuff for us. THANKS!

Ok, so what i thought i would do instead of reading this book is tell you guys what i have and what i want to upgrade to.. and maybe tell me what it rates.

I am currently using a 9zwcII with the XPS system on it. I use it on 2 different helis, a gasser and a small electric. Is this set up slow, middle of road, or fast?

With this said what if i changed to a fasst module for the 9z ?? Would this be faster or slower ?

The other radio i have is a 14 mz with the g3 5014 rx. I use this setup on my jetcopter... when i get done flying with my 9z and pick up the 14 to fly the jet its like going from a volks wagon to a cadillac, you feel WAY more connected.

I am wanting to up grade the 14z to the 2.4 fasst module. Will this setup be slower than what i currently have or faster. I dont have as much faith in the 72 mhz as i do with the 2.4ghz so naturally i want to run the jet with this set up. The g3 5014 module doesnt range check very far at all. There is no comparison to the XPS range check.

I hope this isnt to many questions....I would greatly appreciate any input or help. Thank you in advance, Darren

I feel the same. John .... thanks for the time... you are doing it without anything in return. Great info to help us understand how the systems compare with respect to raw performance.

Futaba 10C

All nice info, but I just want to know by somebody with a 10C on 2.4 or PCM. If I move my collective stick up and down real fast, will my swashplate stay level? I really prefer Futaba style of programing but hated the interaction on my 9C's when operating the collective.

I'm really not interested in debating based on charts, numbers and theories. I just would like to know what actual 10C owners are seeing with the swashplate.

Thanks, Bob

hobbyboy,

I recommend you go to the RR Futaba FASST forum. Your question will be answered there by 10C owners.

Hey all, numbers added for the Spektrum DX7SE! We have a new leader in the average and range categories for 2.4 GHz radios. The 11 ms frame time really helps get the average and range down.

Much like the DX7SE guys spending all day at the field bragging about how fast their radio is, but never actually flying them self to demonstrate how fast their radio actually is....

With all that extra speed stuff might hit the ground that much faster.
