check your orientation of the bearing blocks - the instructions tell you which way the 'dimple' in the bearing block should face - backwards for the correct mesh in the maingear.

After changing there is a lot of play between the main gear and the pinion. Is this normal for this gear ratio?

No it should be smooth as silk, check the orientation of the bearing blocks.

Aziego,

You mentioned you changed to an 11T pinion but you didn't mention that you changed to the 93T main gear. If you didn't then you need to do that.

Augusto.

Thanks Augusto. You are right I did not change the main gear. Thought all I needed was to change the pinion. Will order the main gear.

Divide the number of teeth on the maingear with the number of teeth on the pinion to calculate the gear ratio.

95/12=7.92
93/12=7.75
93/11=8.45

And so on

Avant vibration

I've been flying mine for a while and it recently developed a bad vibration. I changed all of the usual things:

Tail hub, shaft, blades, main blades, spindle, grips, thrust bearings, dampers, etc. Well, I found out the culprit to be a bent main hub!

Another thing to remember - the lower main bearing block is directional, and should be installed with the opening facing DOWN. If not, it will not support the main shaft ( ask me how I know!)

If you dial indicate and balance everything when building, this is one smooth machine!

PS - Once again thanks to CX and Augusto for great product support.

Russ, a bent main hub isnt out of the ordinary.. unless it bent on its own while flying..

Bent Main Hub

I Agree - Except I should have started there! Lesson learned....

I agree it should be one of the first items checked on a Hirobo machine...

Are you referring to the main head block, the blue metal head block? I have a crashed one, and wonder how to determine if it is bent. I do know the spindle needed to be hammered out, as it was bent severely.

Tyler he meant the hub, thats the piece that connects the main shaft to the head yoke (the piece youre reffering to).

The hub is the pain in the ass part for checking whether it is bent or not!
And it is very easy to bend it....much easy than you could imagine!
