Yes the verdict is out. I got 2 gallons through my new Avant. This thing has got to be one of the best flying machines on the market. I live at almost 6000ft about sea level and anything I can to achieve a faster flying machine, I do. The Avant is way lighter machine and is very apparent once you get it in the air. Tick tocks, piro flips ect... it flows. It almost feels like it is balanced way better than anything else out there. Very very very fast. I hate to even know what this thing will do at low altitude. I cannot wait to try it at sea level. Cyclic response is great. It's extremely fast. Even with this thing setup like this I can still hover and do precision hovering. You know most of the time to get some thing this fast you usually lose something else like stability. Not here. Extremely stable!! I am interested in finding out more about what everyone else thinks about it.

I posed a week ago or more. Yes it is extremely fast. Forward AND backwards. The tail is great too. Slam the collective and the heli just follows the sticks. It has been a lot of fun so far.

Can you guys give some more detailed comparisons between your new Avant and the well known furys and Xspecs? I have owned and flown both of those birds, but I am looking for something new, maybe.

I know I enjoyed the collective power of the fury but the interaction free flying of the xspec. Also, the xspec seems more maintenance free for me. The belt drive is a plus in my book, too. Fury was squirrely in a hover, but the xspec is smoother.

Please give us some quality comparitive feedback.

The Avant Rocks!!!

I think everybody already knows what I think from my previous posts.

This machine has been a breath of fresh air for me. As I said before, this machine is very fast! Tic-Tocks, and anything using collective is totally insane! What a pleasure to fly. My 2nd Avant should be done next week.
I now have 2 1/2 gallons through my 1st Avant and I have it dialed in really close to fit my 3D flying style. Yesterday the wind was 20mph in our faces but the weather was 72 degs! It's about time. I managed to get some backwards-rolling circles done even in that wind. The machine rolls very quickly and requires very little collective and inputs to make it come around backwards while rolling. The speed takes a little to get used to.....

I actually scared a few people watching me do J-Rocks (pogos)! The machine was so fast on the collective it looked like it was going to hit the ground but changes direction so instantaneously quick you can get away with this maneuver close to the ground.

Fury vs. Avant

Words to describe the Avant:

Snappy, Light, Alien, Outrageous, Simple, Engineered, Precise, Stable, Obedient, "Incorrect input amplifier", Effortless

To describe the Fury, just insert the word "less" in front of all the above words.

Hey man, why does my lipo get bigger every time I charge it?

Hey, don't forget about "assembling performance".
Avant was designed in a very smart way, so that it is easy to change or tune anything on this machine.
On all helicopters there is always a "pain in the ass bolt" which you can't screw right e.t.c. Forget about the things like this with Avant. A lot of technical holes in the frame help very much.
You understand that this machine was built by someone who definitely knows how da thing should be.
Plus add here very precise quality of the parts.

Heh, Da a$$ of the Fury was kicked!

kym, got a Bible handy?

It hovers like a contest machine and thrashes like a UFO.

Shave a pound off a Fury, and you'll have similar performance. Unfortunately, that's not easy to do.

Or

Actually it is easy to shave half a pound off an Extreme...........
Is the Avant a complete kit now?

One pound less or one and a half in my case is not the only thing that makes as much difference in the flying. It was all the modifications we did on the head together with the much lighter weight what made the difference.

We wanted to have insane pitch collective power much more than the Fury and quicker cyclics but without losing stability. That can't be done via weight savings alone.

Augusto.

very impressive... I gotta see nverts fly.

Now can you design one - made out of nerf foam - so that it'll bounce when I plant it?

Gordie....not yet. It still uses a lot of the Hi&&bo parts. Augusto has designed mixers and mixer blocks out of titanium to change the flybar ratios and bell inputs. As Augusto puts it: this is designed by engineers who know what they are doing.

Money driver's comments about the "less" thing is based on real life being there. We see what this thing will do in the air and just giggle like school girls.

See ya at Toledo!
