| Hey Ray,Hey Ray,
You really crack me up! If I remember correctly, the heli you saw fly around had some major glitching problems and I was using the Funkey FRP's.
Not only that, but I had the Muscle Pipe gap set at 1/2" which caused the headspeed to be locked at some 1200 rpm or so. Even with such a setup, I flew her around (gave up trying to track down the glitch problem), looped rolled, and hovered inverted.
I have since changed the gap to 1/8" which raised the headspeed to so 1500rpm (still not enough!!!). And performance was much much better. If I had the stock Hurricane blades on, the difference would have been like night and day.
Well, you missed out on a rather exciting crash my friend!
The next day? I flew her, and I thought I got all the glitching issues resolved. So I kind of flew more and more aggressively, and then GLITCH! Whoa! That was weird. On a straight hover, or slow forward flight the heli wouldn't glitch. Only in Fast forward flight, or acro would it glitch.
Suffice to say, I got cocky when the glitches went away again, and looped her into the ground. It got glitch happy 3/4 the way through a loop, and as you all know, I was heading straight down at that time, and could not get the heli to listen to me . I was flying at a 2 mistake high altitude no less! So, it really came screaming down!
The good news? Well, it flew into some trees breaking the fall. Made a real loud noise. Engine was still at full throttle. I still had radio control!!! So I brought the engine to idle with radio, and started booney stomping. With the engine idling away, the heli was easy to find even through the thick jungle we have out here in Guam.
The damage was VERY LITTLE! I was shocked. Heli was in one piece (unlike your crash)!
The damage was:
a) Bent boom
b) Bent boom supports
c) one broken main blade
d) broken torque tube drive.
Total damage cost not including blades are some: $30.
So what do you do after crashing $30 dollars worth of parts? Go out and buy $300 dollars worth of parts of course!!!
Man, this helicopter thing is a real money pit.
Jimmy
P.S. I forgot to mention that I finally found the source of the RF interference. I modified the way the switch mount fits in the heli, and that was what was causing it, I think!! I'll have to try her again once it's fixed to be totally sure.
