I haven't built one, as there doesn't seem to be any building to it! Add tail boom, blades and electronics....done deal! On the serious side, no,
I have not built one and installed an OS Hyper 50, but, I did win a Stinger 50 at the B'ham Heli Event last weekend and just got around to checking it out. All I can say.....for anybody just getting into helis or even the advanced pilot on a budget, this kit kicks it.

Look in the current issue of Model Aviation,March issue, Ray Stacey did a small review of the 30 and 50 size. Maybe Ray has had more of a chance to fly the Stinger now. Chuck

i won mine at the rotary freeze fly. building tip: buy a raptor fan clutch and shaft. forget about checking the run out on the shaft. the parts are compatable they are listed on the gohbee website. a few have said that the hyper wont fit with the stock fan they have been elongating the holes in the frame. mine fit but it was a tight fit , had to squeeze her in. the raptor fan gives you a lil more space and it is pre drilled for magnets. gonna give her a shot this weekend and make sure it works.

How'd she fly

So nogodznomasterz, did you get the chance to fly your stinger? I just purchased a .30 sized one and took it out today and it flys well, had a bit of up and down vibration that revealed itself to be a bent spindle.
I bought it used so I guess it was like that. I will be converting it to a fifty soon the OS .32 is okay but not a lot of power. Let us know how yours went.

I have been flying my Stinger 50 w/OS 50 Hyper since IRCHA 04.
I only have about 6 gals through this bird but I have yet to need to replace any part.
I do not notice any difference in maneuverability compared to my R50 SE.
The Stinger is much less pitchy in FFF when compared to my R50 SE.

The issue with the fan and the Hyper has been addressed for all new kits.

The Stinger kits and parts are much less expensive than the raptor kits and parts, especially if you use a field rep code. (PM me for details and a code).
Due to the low repair cost I find that my flying is improving rapidly due to a lower fear factor.

My Stinger was originally purchased as a 30 and converted to a 50.

To bad you sold it, I just bought a .30 size and it is a very nice machine
no pitching in fff and is very solid.

I am now installing a 50 in it to see just now well it does with the 50.
I am a YS man and wish they had the 50 finished . I will try one of the webra .52 engines to see what it does. Boy, the parts are nice and cheap for this thing. I just might have to get another!

the fifty has some problems right out of the box which after a month in which i only had one response from david at gohbee he is now taking care of. the biggest being that the fan hub is too long and he will turn it down a few thousands of an inch so the engine mount mounting holes in the frame do not need to be elongated for proper clutch clearance inside the clutch bell. another is the one piece clutch shoe/starter shaft. now allhough my evos use the same style one piece the quality of the parts are so much better checking and correcting for run-out was a breeze. where the stinger one piece was out .025" the evos were only out .003 at the tip. the other big fualt with the gohbee is the customer support or lack of support i hope 30 days is not the standard lead time on a response to a question. i think the manual could use a few more pages as well as in the correst lengths or approx. of all linkages. i did not purchase the 50 i won it and thats he only reason i had it. i did keep the 600mm mah blades it came with. the were the only components i trusted. i hope your exspirience with gohbee is better than mine.

With all that I can understand why you sold it. So far so good with mine
I really don't like the one piece clutch assembly, probably take some getting used to. I only have about 20 tanks on mine with the .30 so I will see more once I get the .50 in her.

Sorry to hear that you were not happy with your Stinger.
You may have had an older kit.
The clutch was a problem for a while, I also had problems with my original clutch.
The clutch issue was addressed for all kits back around Dec. and Jan. and David is now doing 100% inspection of the run out on all clutch shafts before they go out.
I always had excellent customer support from David even long before I became a field rep.
