Blades, Night Flying and Painting > New VBlade manufacturing process

Vic's has a new manufacturing method that has improved the torsional rigidity of the VBlades too a point that seems unreal. The set I have feel like steel when you try and twist them but they still flex spanwise it's truly incredible! This new level of stiffness means that the blade tips will have little too no washout at operational speeds. This is great news as it seems most pilots seem to be looking for more performace from their machines. These blades with there substantially increased torsional rigidity are bound too improve the flight envelope

The difference between old and new blades is that cord has been increase to 62mm.

Vic, handed me one of his new ones for me to try and flex and there is for sure no flex. I don't know how he did it but they are STRONG!

My motto is this..Fly...Rebuild...Fly

All Vic has to do now is make 'em white, and we'll have the perfect blade.

Gurdian, the new blades will come only in the 60's sizes such as 680's, 700's and night blades. I stated earlier that the cord is 62mm but is actually something like 61.5mm. All the other VBlades will continue to use the wet lamination process instead of the pre-preg carbon which the new blades utilise.

Any sign of the 710mm or 720mm V-Blades?

Bigger!

Blair if you want big blades then you do need a set of the new VBlades. If we were to assume that the blade root is constant to the blade bolt for comparison purposes then the new VBlades would be only 11/2 sqcm shy of a 720 /60 mm blade.

Perfect blades?

To me the perfect set of blades would be able to withstand an @ss wiping (boom strike) !

well v blades are great for boom strikes (Speaking from experience) they have the best chance of surviving.

I can vouch for the durability of the V's. They'll cut through a carbon
tail boom and tube like a Ginzu Knife yet have NO evidence of it!

I have to say that V-Blades are the best on the market.

Hmmmmm.

Maybe that's the problem?I need to switch to carbon booms so that I can cut through them !Aluminum has a way of ruining your day and the blades!!! Carbon snaps and aluminum bends...Soemthing to think about.

How can you tell what blades they are by looking at them. Will they be specially marked?

Is the Cost going to be the same?

Sound Check

FlyingFreak you can't tell by looking but you can by touch! Today I did some vertical tail slides and during the pull outs the blades made very little noise. I think with a little time one could tell which blades are new just by the sound they make because it isn't like the old model.
