Oh...it is a very boring and slow machine, with very sluggish response and no pitch at all. It is very heavy and it hardly hovers. I’d recommend it only for beginners!

tail drive

Mine has the belt. It is whatever your Freya has. If your Freya is a belt drive as most are, if you want a tt you would have to get the Hirobo conversion.

the belt drive works fine. I saw no need to go with the TT.

Avant

Well I have 2 flights on mine. New engine, so it is running very rich.

What I can say is that it handles very well and auto's very well.

For a high end 3D machine, I was also impressed how it tracked in straight lines.

Well, I have several of gallons thru the Avant so far. The machine itself it a no brainer. Great from the word go. It flies LIGHT. Not alot of collective needed for tic tocs or direction changes. I have the tail belt on mine. I like this alot in flight as I now NEVER have to worry about the tail gears. I do feel the belt drag a little in the autos, but as long as you know, you can make adjustments. I will stay with the belt.

The Avant is FAST!!!!!! It goes like stink foward and backwards. Small canopy and small profile is the reason for this. Better have some bright colors.

I'm still working to find the right Hirobo majic on the head. I think I found a good solution for my style. SAB paddles work outstanding on this machine. Hold on to your bonnet granny, this wagon really moves!

For those who flew the Avant already, im wondering if it has the same wobbles that the Freya has in tic tocs when using CX dampners.. ?

only chance to get rid of them in the Freya is to fly with careful collective management, which is fine for me (considering the benefits of these dampners!) but im wondering how the Avant reacts with the same, and if it is different, and why ?

I have heard of this happening to some people flying Freya's, but I have not experienced it at all with the Avant. Here is my set up using the CX V2 system......

"C" Dampners
75 Durometer O-ring
(1) spacer
X-Spec Metal Head

My Avant has not displayed the wobbles at all. I am either lucky or I have just found the perfect setup for this machine and the bolts must be tightened just right....at any rate I am pleased not to have those problems. I have only shot about 15 autos so far but no troubles were noted. I believe people having this trouble may be reporting it on the Freya's stock head. I have not heard of the Avant's responding this way with the CX V2 dampners.

I got 4 more flights in today at a private field near here late tonight. Mostly worked on Piro Flips, and 4 point Tic-Tocks. This machine is really fast and a pleasure to fly. Can wait to really get more gallons on it in good weather. The weather was still only 47 with a cold wind about 15mph.

Yowsa!!!

I have been around 90 sized helis long enough that very few manouvers catch me by suprise. Yesterday, Big Dave flipped his machine over and did some pogos. They absolutely scared the "schtuff" out of me. I was certain the machine was going in. It was headed toward the ground inverted and pirouetting at mach-9, but it immediately headed skyward at the same rate. It is amazing what a 1lb diet does!

It's gonna be a fun year!

Hey man, why does my lipo get bigger every time I charge it?

I have the torque tube on my Avant and I have flown Augusto's Avant with the belt and I dont see a reason to get the torque tube. Stay with whatever comes with the machine you using. Hirobo did a kick ass job designing the belt system on the freya.
