I am afraid that you have it the wrong way around. The Hawk SE is the upgraded version of the Hawk IV. And yes one can upgrade the IV to the SE standards.
Some of the differences:
1 - SE comes with 550mm fiberglass/Carbon Fiber composite blades, the IV comes with RTF woodies.
2 - SE has a CNC machined rotor hub, the IV is a molded unit
3 - SE has a Flybar control yoke, the IV uses two seperatecontrol arms
4 - SE has a newer, better looking canopy
5 - SE has a more heavy duty landing gear
6 - SE has a the swashplate radius guide
7 - SE has the aluminum lower mainframes
8 - SE has the triple bearing tail rotor grips.
9 - SE has bearings on every moving part (51 I believe instead of the 32 of the IV).
10 - the IV does come with a nice one-piece CNC machined muffler (many flyers using Shuttles, Sceados, Raptors purchase this unit for theirs) but it has to be purchased seperately for the SE.
There may be a few other minor differences that do not pop to mind but these are the major ones. This is why I think the extra $150.00 ($110.00 kit price difference plus the $40 for the CN3033 muffler.) for the SE is well worth the difference if one wants to be in that price range.. |
