I'm seriously considering diving into a DIY raptor 30 conversion project but can someone give me a few pointers to get started on when choosing a motor. I'd like to shop these around but am having trouble comparing apples to apples as I'm not familiar with some of the terminology. What should I be looking at?
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

I was able to dig out some more information using the search function and I was thinking doing something like this....

A 670kv motor with 16.3 mohms resistance and Io of 1.66A
Two 10 cell 3700mah Nimh packs
Appropriate speed controller.
In a raptor 30/50 combination it would draw 30 -40 amps, yes?
My concern is that all this gear would weigh nearly 4 pounds and I'm also wondering what my flight times would be.
Anyone care to take a stab at it?

Forgive me if I'm way off here.

Sounds like you've been doing some good research. The motor Kv for stock gearing is in the right ballpark.

It should draw closer to 20A at hover. Take a stab at KC's spreadsheet. Sounds like you've got the know-how to use it.

Wow that sheet is very cool. The only thing I didn't see yet is if it tells your run times.
Took me a minute to find it but, I'll be playing with that more.
