When using a Futaba GY401 Gyro with an Airtronics Stylus radio do you have to reverse the signal wire on the rudder input connector from the gyro to the Rx?

Why would you do that? I use 401's on my Stylus and Infinity and just plug them in to the appropriate channels.

I read somewhere that the signal wires for Futaba and Airtronics (Jr) were switched? I was just asking a question. This is my first GY401 in a new heli. On my eco8 I fly a GY 240 and I'm not impressed. On my others I fly CSM 540's. So, I'm just not sure of the setup with a GY 401. You see, there's no help in Chicago when it comes to a Stylus. Can I ask what % do you set your Gyro setting to on your Stylus?

Sure, here is what I do.

The first thing you will have to do is go into the SW menu and define what switch you want to use to control the gyro gain.

Do you have a heli card? It makes a small difference as the heli card will give you gyro settings in each flight mode you select.

On a Stylus and RD 8000, 65% on the gyro channel will equal 35% on a 601 and conicides with what I usually run a 401 at. Anywhere between 50 and 70% will get you in the ballpark.

FYI, the blue connectors are industry standard and the old black connectors are the type that was switched from the norm in terms of positive and negative.

I have a heli card.
SW #11 and #12 is set to control gyro gain with my CSM gyro's.
#11 is off (standard mode)
#12 is on (Heading Lock)

Gyro> N 1) = 80%
2) = -77%
These settings work well. So what your saying is that I should set:
Gyro> N 1) = ??%
2) = 65%

Will I have the ability to set a standard gyro mode?

Thanks,

Mike

The same setting for the CSM will work on the 401. You will just have to determine which setting either + or - will put the 401 into AVCS mode.

Try 65-70% for either mode.
