I have a set of the Pro-lites and I am very happy with them so far
Only 10 flights on the Ion with them.
I can tell there is a difference between the "Lites" and the "Pro-Lites"
The power stays the same all the way through the flight I don't feel the fade anymore.

FYI
I have 40 cycles on three Pro-Lites that I use in my 3DMP and there has been no change over the 40 cycles voltage is still the same.

Hi Charlie,

A bit of public feedback. I have had very good results with the new pro lite packs. The largest improvement that I notice is the ability of the pack to hold voltage longer. After a 7 min flight of extremely agressive high power flying I am seeing temp limits on my LRK 14 turn but the packs are around 125F and I am putting 5000-5300 mah pack into them on charge. I also have FDR data that is showing a very high average voltage and there for less current which I think will really allow these packs to have a high cycle life in this high current application.

I think with the Actro heli motor a person would be able to fly a bit longer and maybe eliminate the motor temp issue. The LRK seems to run a bit warm when loaded hard. The batteries seem to have quite a bit of increased capacity over the previous generations.

What packs are these?

The only ones I've seen available are 5s2p (sporadically at that)..... Thats only 4000mah. Are there 6000s available?.... To anyone besides you and Chris?

I am not involved in anything but the flying so I really don't know what would be for sale from the vendors. I would think that the vendors or the MFG TP would have more info.

But let wait and see what Charlie has to say

Will 2x 10S2P prolite packs work on the ION or do they need to be the 5S4P configuration. Thanks guys.

Jon, I am pretty sure that 10s2ps would be very close to the max end of of the 10s2ps, I think you would be much better of going with the 3p's in the Ion

I have 3 flights on the new TP Pro Lite 5S4P...The rpm's held an avg. of 1870rpm through moderate to strong 3D manuevers. (-30rpm under load) What I liked was the power held throughout the flight without tappering off. After a 7min. flight... average battery temp was 95-103 deg. motor temp was 130deg. and Esc. temp 87 deg. I definitely can see the difference! Thanks again Charlie.

rcman - I was thinking 2 of the 10S2P for a total of 10S4P. I just was not sure of the mounting and balancing.

The 10S2P is available in long stick (50 x 29 x 310mm)
Although you can connect 2 packs in parallel to deliver 8000mAh, it may not fit well in the Ion

The 8000mAh Ion pack is slightly shorter and wider (63mm x 20mm x 250mm)

Thanks

Cell Balancing?

Just wondering about Cell Balancing Charge Circiutry, I have handled a 10s2p packs and noticed that there is a set of cell balancing leads but it looks like you need a special adapter or charge lead to balance these cells, my question is do you have to purchase that seperately?

Here is the link for the TP balancer. It looks like it will balance a 2s-5s pack, so it may take two for a 10s2p.

I am quite sure that most user would ever need to balance the Pro Lite cell,
However, the safety/balancing connector do provide access to check the battery ,

Taps by itself can not monitor battery condition during charging !!!

TP balancer monitor the condition of battery pack during charging and correct any cell imbalance, the most important feature is to shut-off the charger if the battery become unsafe to charge (cell breakdown during charging)

Cell balancer

Karl,
TP balancer is the most unique safety/battery conditioning equipment.

It detects cell count for you, check condition of your pack, measure degree of imbalance, measure voltage condition
Make decision for you how to balance the pack(progressive balancing technique), alert you when the battery is 98% charge (save charge time)

Varify cell count with TP charger (never sellect the wrong cell count again)
Turn off charger is charge condition become unsafe(total safety)
Buy it or not,
you still can check voltage through the safety/balancing connector.

The Pro Lite pack is the same size, weight and price as the Lite pack
We released limited packs over the last few weeks to get some feedback.
Most dealers will have these pack by next week, you can check with your prefered Thunder Power dealer or contact Thunder Power for more info
