May I suggest that you write your post in a text editor first and make use of the spell check function.

feal = feel
croud = crowd
recieved = received
emaild = e-mailed
lonly = lonely

BTW, I never said the article was bad. The first sentence in my post was, "This is a good aid for anyone who decides to build a Falcon...".

I was commenting on your vociferousness and you re-explaining the obvious.

This is NOT the place to try to put anyone down. Kirk has done an excellent job on his writings and photographs. There is nothing wrong with what he did. Besides, when it comes to spelling, NO ONE IS PERFECT. I'm certain that anyone who is building this kit has been greatly helped by Kirks posting. Who really cares about spelling. He has a lot to offer and what he is communicating is what is important. Reading his reviews and seeing his photographs are important to anyone. Just reading what he has done make me wish he had information on other helicopters. Without question, I would read what he had to say on what he has found.

Kaos, if you're not interested in reading something like this, why did you read it? I enjoyed the descriptive step by step (what there was of it, much of the writing was on impressions and corrections) and the pictures are great! Voclain is an able and talented person who seems to genuinely like people. I appreciate his enthusiasm and vitality and consider him a valuable member of this forum. I don't think his intent was to prove he is an authority or and expert in the field of RC helis. Voclain, keep posting. Kaos, you to! I love this site! Best, Dave

Very Rude

Kaos
I find it very irritating to see someone point out mistakes in someone else’s grammar or spelling. There is a vast majority of people on this forum that actually have lives to live and don’t live on this forum.... we have children to raise and businesses to run. In our spare time we play with helicopters and try to help newcomers by conveying are experiences. Most of us don’t have time to reread what we have written before its time to change another diaper or answer the phone again. We are hoping that who ever read the post, can read through the mistakes and understand the context in which it was written. We are trying to conveying information that we hope helps further your enjoyment of this hobby. If you cannot understand there motivation and there desire to help maybe you should find a less complicated hobby.. maybe you should try becoming a proof reading for a major magazine or news paper... I personally don’t care about proper grammar is long as the person writing the post is trying to help or communicate there experience !!!

Keep On Keeping On

voclain,

I found your review to be both informative and entertaining to read.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words and your excellent photos certainly add greatly to the review.

I have read many a RC chopper review since 1972 and yours ranks right up there with the best.

Model Aviation mag. has indicated/suggested that they would print more RC chopper related stuff if it was just submitted.
Just for kicks, consider submitting your article to them as well.
The fancy shot of finished model would make a great cover photo.

Hope to run across you at a meet sometime and shake your hand.

I did send it to them....

....and I have not heard anything yet from them.

I did get a rejection letter from Rotory because it had been placed on the internet. GO figure, I guess they feel that there are only 3000 people out there who fly helis???

I sent them a reply asking them to reconsider. MAINLY because 100% of the helicopter flying world is NOT online.

But I have not heard from them yet.

Thanks for the complement!! I really appreciate it!!! IF you ever come across a FAT LOUD Red headed guy, THAT'S ME!!!

Yeeah baby

Shaggtastic,,, LOL,,,

Kirt,,, the first time my Falcon lifted off I tough it had to low of a head-speed to lift off, but it did, it was because it is quieter and smoother than my Hawk V2 was !!

I think the extra drag from the larger 600mm main blades smoothed out the transmission, it's defiantly smoother than my Hawk V2 was !!

Wasp....

I felt the same thing!! INFACT everyone who has been watching me fly wanted to be there when I first lifted off the Falcon (they have been reading here and not posting).

They all said that the blades were spinning too slow!! So I picked up the speed a little. IT preformed much better!! But NOW I'm wondering if I'm over speeding the blades???

Do you know if a regular Airplane Tach will work on a heli??? WELL as long as you want to be UNSAFE and get that close to the blades in flight that is???

And for those who know, what is your FALCON's hovering blade RPM???

Kirk,

What a wonderful and professional effort. I read through the whole thing to see your work.

I just wish you had spend this time and energy on a kit and company that was worthy of your meticulus effort.

Kirk,

You can use a regular tachometer. Put it on a stick and stick the stick into the ground under the heli blades, or duck tape it to the side of the heli if it is one of the small ones. I don't know your flying level, but if you just do little hovering hops you can get a pretty good measurement. Make sure you set it for a two bladed prop.

As to efforts on development of a new kit--yeah! How about buying Kalt from the losers at HPI who have dwindled it to a cold cadaver. I need a part supplier and the designs are still ahead of many.

Nice work on the review. What did you use shoot the mirrored portrait: focal length, format, stop, film ect. I don't see too much perspective distortion yet things are pretty sharp at all depths-beautiful. I can't get mine to look like that.

Incidently you made the homepage of heli-world in case you didn't know. maybe you found your photo business-nitch that everyone is always seeking.

All the best

Smooth.....

.....Why do you say that??? I think I did. PLEASE let's not get into a FORD and CHEVY fight here???

UNLESS you have OWNED the FALCON SE II you cannot compare it to anything or anyone. Do you own one? OR are you going on the advice of others???

Have you built and flown the new Century Falcon SEV2 (not an old Hawk I, II or Falcon 46, but the new SEV2)? It is obvious you have not, otherwise you would not have made your second comment.

I do not judge the new Hirobo Sceado on the weaknesses of the 1996 Shuttle Z or newer Shuttle Challenge or Z-TS. I do not judge the 2002 X-Cell SE or Pro or Fury on the weaknesses of the original X-Cell 30 or even on those of the original SE. I do not judge the Millenium or new Futura SE on the weaknesses of the original Futura. I do not judge the 2002 Bergen Intrepid on the weaknesses of the 1999 version. I would not judge a 1999 version of a 46 size model that cost $300.00 (Falcon 46) to a current $900.00 sixty.

Normally, I would not judge a $400.00 46/50 size model against any $900.00 plus 60 size "SE" type model. But in the case of the 2002 $400.00 Century Falcon SEV2, I do find myself doing just that, (comparing it to models two and three times more expensive) and so have any who have flown mine or those of my club mates.

If every manufacturer were as commited to constantly improve their product while keeping it affordable like Century does, there would be a lot more great models out there for a lot less then consumers are being charged today. I do not think the average consumer realizes how much of the money they pay for a kit is for the "name"..... money to pay for the the budgeted dollars these "names" spend on advertizing, promotion and supporting demo pilot sponsorship programs etc. (not to mention for higher profits, some may even say excessive profits)

Thanks for the tack ideas!! I'm going to try that.

I use a Canon D60 Digital Camera. IT'S a 6 mega pix camera. VERY HIGH quality. I not totally sure what focal length I was using, being I was using a zoom lens. But I do know that the camera was set at 1/60 sec and f8. Which is my normal studio set up.

WHAT do you mean I made the cover of heli world???

I went to there site and I did not see anything there???

SEND me the link you are talking about???

I like both the Canon and the Nikon digital SLR units. If I shot more it would be in my bag. Thanks for the data and the enjoyable/educational review.
