great thanks for the info. by a-axis do you mean the 4th axis rotating table? I'm still not fully sure of the purpose of that table...waiting for my book.

Thanks,
Keith

Yes the A-axis is a rotating table. If you are not sure of its use as soon as you start machining you will find all kinds of thing to use it for. I am almost done designing my carbon shogun. When I get it done I will post it here.

Ah ok. I still have all summer to decide if I want to include that in my initial purchase.

wow that looks like it may be a little more versatile. A little chaper too for a bigger work space. I'll have to get some more info.

Hey Keith,

Yes, the cnc routers do look promising but you are going to give up some travel in the Z axis and rigidity in the machine. Your not going to be able to cut steel (not that I do anyway) or deep cuts into aluminum but for the most part it should be just fine. If you wanting to add a 4th axis then the sherline mill (or such) will be better as you will have much more room.

It is not going to be cheaper. You still need to buy the motors, spindle too, and programs. Overall they will be in the same price range give or take a few hundred. In the end that is not enough of a difference.

Yeah i was just thinking about the 3 inch z axis travel. Right now that is more than plenty but i'm trying think of what i may need extra throw for in the future. I'm more interested in the longer 14 inch x and y axis throws for machining r/c car chassis and such.

Yeah i just noticed it requires a router as well and the price won't be much different from the sherline. I guess i have to do more research and decide what kind of uses I may use it for later on.

Thanks,
Keith

Hey Charlie,
thanks for letting me fly the t-rex at the ff. But then I had to go out and buy one.
Let me know when the frames are ready as i'm going out of town.
i think your thread has officially been hijacked,

Please cancel my clearance, I have the field in sight.

thanks Ron,

I think when people get there hands on the things they are going to like how they handle and look Yes it seems to be highjacked may have to close this one down and start another.

yeah sorry about that guys we got carried away. I'm thinking of converting to ccpm and your setup looks quite neat. One thing that's holding me back is I already got microheli's version 2 swash for the stock setup. I don't think i'm going to go ccpm unless i can trade it in for credit or sell the swash. I'm hoping a lighter version of the stock setup comes out soon so I can fly my jet ranger fuse without worrying about the extra weight.(700grams flight ready)

I don't really think some talking about other stuff other than the exact topic really hurts. I mean it can be really beneficial for some. Like in this case it was great info for me. I have been thinking of maybe buying a CNC machine and now I have a lot of info/leads to do more research.

Cool!

I see in the picture you have the pushrod on the innermost hole of the servo arm. Does this give you enough pitch range? Can you get +/- 10º? Thanks!

Well you would think you wouldn't get enough but....... at first set up a friend and I was getting around 14-16 deg pos and 10 neg after some linkage tweeking I can get 13+ 13- deg but I have settings turned down the nice thing about using the inside holes (10mm) is you will have a finer resolution in servo travel

That's good to hear! So have you dicided to make a production run yet? If yes, when and how much? Got to know all the options before I order a CF frame.
