Engines Plugs Mufflers Fuel > Tried Wildcat 30% today and I gotta say...

...HOLY WILD-CRACK BATMAN!!! This stuff rocks!! I have been running Sig 30% heli w/24% Klotz in my OS50, and it's like night and day! First of all, the heli smoked a whole lot less, even after I opened the needle valve 3 clicks because of the whole re-breakin thing. Secondly, the increase in power was unreal. Normally, when I go from a hover into a full power climbout, the motor would always bog down a little until the disk unloaded then the power would come back. I tried to needle-out this tendency, but I never seemed to be able too. With the Wild-crack the heli just took off like a rocket (pulling 11 degrees of pitch). No hesitation, no bog down. I also noticed that the headspeed was a couple hundred RPM's higher and any given throttle setting, telling me that the extra 6% methanol is doing its job. The idle was also a lot smoother and the heli started easier, I didn't know it was supposed to run this good. It smells good and doesn't burn my eyes just like like the Sig, because of the Klotz oil (unlike the OTHER brands fuel ).

Hey Jerry Conley, if you're reading this, I want to commend you on your fuel. I've been itching to try it for a while, but no one around here sell it (that I know of). I bought this gallon off a buddy of mine. Everybody sells CoolPower and Sig (because it is made locally). My local Hobbytown doesn't even stock the "Hobbytown" labeled Wildcat. I asked them about it in April and they just said they'd try to carry it "maybe by summer." Plus they already charge WAY too much for fuel as it is (they recently lowered their price on CP30 to $29.99 from $32.99 and the Sig 30, without shipping because they can drive down to Montezuma and pick it up, is around $27 or so).

Anyway, I say bravo Mr. Conley and the crew at Wildcat. You've won another customer.

Mike, Wildcat uses 100% Klotz oil in there mix. And keep quiet about this stuff. I put up a post about it last summer and went to my LHS the next afternoon to pick up another gallon. They told me they had a run of the stuff that morning and were sold out. I was told by my LHS that Wildcat actually has a couple percent higher oil content than Coolpower.

Not in 30% fuel. CP is something like 24% oil and WC is at 18 or -20 (can't remember) , anyway, WC just uses a better thicker oil and less of it.

Wildcat 30% has 18% Klotz oil (a custom high viscosity blend made for Wildcat), it says so right on the jug. That's the great thing about it. Not only does higher viscosity oil lube the motor better, close up and seal the space between the ring and sleeve better for better compression, and is able to capture more heat making the engine run cooler (so they say, but I haven't checked), but the 6% oil that isn't there opens up space for more power producing methanol. The difference was amazing, it was like I'd but a different (bigger) engine in my heli.

Fuel availability

Dear Driftrider,

Thank you for your kind words, we appreciate the opportunity to serve you. You will no longer have to search for the Wildcat Helimix, the local Hobbytown USA just picked up our entire line in force. When I read your post I went back and checked their order, and they had forgotten to order the Heli 30% on this go around, so I called them back and we added the fuel onto the order. So, if you go to the local shop in three days it will be available. I also want to commend you taking the Wildcat challenge, that is, "Simply try Wildcat and see the difference". If someone has never tried Wildcat then they can't speak to our performance and quality, but a gentleman like yourself can say that you have tried other fuels and seen that what we say is true. That is all we ask, try Wildcat and compare. I have seen your posts for a long time and am proud that we now have the opportunity to serve you. Thank you, and God bless.

Jerry,

How would my LHS order some WC30% heli? There are only 2 (so far) heli pilots that buy fuel from him and he orders CP30% for us on request. I want to try WildCat, but I don't want LHS to order a bunch if we (gulp!) don't like it (it's getting hot in here ). I am willing to try WC, but I can stick w/ CP if there is alot of hurdles to go through.

Thanks,
Rob B.

Fuel

Dear Rob,

It is very easy to get Wildcat, first Wildcat Fuels are distributed nationally by Great Planes Model Distributing, which means, if your local shop has OS engines or Futaba radios they buy from our distributor. Simply ask your dealer to order some through GP, no problem. Second, we are also sold online through Tower Hobbies. Third, if you buy your fuel from Wildcat direct we offer a money back satisfaction policy.

Volkul,

Patientence my friend, Wildcat is coming to Europe, we are in negotiations right now with a German distributor to bring the Cat to you. We should have the first shipment coming your way VERY soon!

We get CP 30% from our local hobby store for 17.99 a gallon. Sounds like we are getting a good deal huh?

Jerry,

Flew the heli again today with the Wildcat, and it's flying better than it ever has. Thank you for arranging for my local Hobbytown to carry the Wildcat line. As I was burning the only gallon of Wildcat I have I was getting worried about not being able to find more because I don't want to run Sig anymore. Now I don't have to conserve for lack of supply. I think that if Hobbytown sells the fuel for a reasonable price they'll end up with a strong customer base, from both the heli guys and plankers.

Thanks again,

Mike

I like to give credit where and when it is due. I have used WC on my BVM engines with super great results. I never used after run oils and all my 91 and 96 BVM engines (they run around 23-24000) look perfect inside after 100 runs. I switched to WC from CP for my helis due to cost only and now I am happy too with the performance. Keep up the good work WC or I will go to CP
