Am I missing something ? I optioned for the TT70 engine,
1) cause I had success from two tt36 pros.
2) I wanted the extra power over the OS61.
My delima is I cant get the engine to spin using my starter. It seems to tighten up at the top of the stroke. If I take the glow plug out, it spins like a demon. Plug in and it becomes a bear.
TIA, Ken.

TT70 starter

You are running into what the rest of us 'Big Ass Engine' (BAE) users have encountered. Regular starters don't have the grunt to turn over the BAEs. You can loosen the glow plug, plug in the heater, insert the starter and them open the fuel valve and hit the starter. This prevents fuel from flooding the BAE.
Alternatively, the Sullivan Dynatron starter with a car, motorcycle or 16+ Nicad battery will work well.

Yep...

... I found that unless my 12v gel was fully charged, it would sit and look stupid while burning itself up. I'll take a look at other starters. However, I would not want to have to carry a car battery in my flight box !
Thanks Fritz.
P.S.
If your "THE" FRITZTHECAT... Loads of thanks for your VERY informative site. I use it as my Holy Grail to build, maintain, trouble shoot my R30 and now my R60.

tt70

On a bad day my engine will bog down my Ford Probe GT at idle while I try to start the stupid heli. Once it's warmed up for the day it's fine. When i run the tank dry after defueling for the day, it normally will start easier the next time out. other than that i have no complaints since i switched to 30% CP. Cant wait till after finals week so I can go and try out the new V-blades and tear up the winter sky.
