Well this is just getting silly. Why not just release them to the public and let the bleeding edge crew work out the power supplies. Instead they have released 4 to fliers who are working about as slow as joe blow in trying out different power systems. We are in 4th quarter last time i looked october was 4 quarter - it is a real shame when a vendor stamps a release date only to miss it.

Time to look at other manufacturers looks like ms has come out with the stinger 6 which is a maxi mini and has quite good potential.

such a shame to see a budget machine like this one good by the way due to poor marketing

The key word is "budget machine". They could have paid pilots to work 8 hours a day just to test, but that would make the machine out of budget The official test pilots for this "budget" machine have their day job and only have time to test it during the weekend and some weekday afterhours. What if they crash and need some parts?

Oh well, flying season is ending soon for the east coast. If the Swift is out by next Summer, I'm cool

I'm sure century who do happen to sell lots of helicopters have a broad range of pilots who they could use to test and get this thing setup. If they threw one over to Gary G of tppacks there would be an array of power systems from tame to downright ridiculous

there has got to be something else stopping century from releasing this bird.

And we fly all year round so there isn't a good time to stop selliing helis for r & d

Century is just like Microsoft

Well I attempted to get info from Century on the battery and motor specs so I could purchase ahead of time before buying one of these machines. Guess what.....no answer. I guess I was wrong in thinking Century was more customer focused. Seems to me they are indeed like the reps I met at the Chicago Hobby show last year....full of themselves.

Funny, everyone complains about Microsoft and the vaporware. Looks like the rc heli world is looking pretty much the same. Funny thing is that there is no excuse for a delay like this, especially when the machine has been marketed in the manner as this heli has been. This is similar to Ford or Chevy advertising next years vehicles only to release them 2 years from now.

By the way, I do work in industry that has tougher issues than a few molding problems and mechanical engineering snafu's. At least in my industry we still have to meet deadlines. Try combining electrical hardware and software with your mechanics Century. It's a lot tougher than only dealing with the mechanical engineering side like you need to here. It's not like your re-investing the wheel here. You have been in the RC heli industry how long now????

Seems to me that Century is falling prey to the ol' it must be perfect before we ship syndrome. You folks ever hear that in every project a time is reached where you shoot the engineers (albeit it is usually the fool and weak hearted managers) and launch the project? (by the way, this is coming from an engineer)
SHIP IT ALREADY!!!!!

Let the ultimate power system be worked out in the field. Lord knows your loosing more money than your bound to make with the snail paced approach your using now. Besides, you know good and well people are going to play and improve upon the power system despite your best, and lengthiest, efforts. The electric world is moving way too fast for you to be messing around. Get the mechanics right and the piots will come. Get the power system wrong and we will fix it.

Bottom line, wake up and smell the cold hard cash Century!!!!

p.s. The folks at Synergy heli's should take this advice as well before the Synergy dies on the vine.

Take your time and do it right.
The above poster who wines about release dates is always the first guy to bash and cry about "his" crashing because some part wasn't tested enough.
Do it right the first time.

Well, as ONE of the testors with a DAY job I guess I will add a little to this.

We have the ultimate power system, and it has been posted many times in several forums.

Tango 45-10 on 6s2p TP Pro Lites. Also flys well on 4s with a Hacker A30-8XL on 4s or 12 cells, but not a 3D heli.

I am waitng for a NEU motor that maybe the best setup, but still waitng.

50 flights on it so far with about 10 diff pilots. No problems cept a little tail wag now and then.

Unlikley that I'll get a Swift in the short term but with what I've read, I think Century needs to figure out if they are in the Heli business or the turnkey business. In other words, do they want to sell a kit or ARF or do they want to sell this with a motor and power supply?

From my view, they need to focus on the mechanics and let the various parts manufacturers take care of their component. I recently purchased a TRex and bought an Align Gyro (could have been Telebee or Futaba), a "bluebird" servo and 3 no-names, a Castle Creations ESC, some no-name Lipos etc.

If I were to purchase a Swift, I'd likely buy name brand servos from someone, an ESC from someone like Castle, Gyro from Futaba or CSM and Lipos that meet the specs.

So, not sure why they continue to delay.

Got Money? Send it to me, I'm a Heli Addict.

Don, I am using all brand name equipment in mine, but have used some Century stuff for testing.

Tango 45-10 Kontronik
Castle Creations Pheonix 80
Thunder Power 6s2p Lipos
Hitec RX and base digital servos.
UBec
Futaba GY401 with 9254

Release delay is not in our control right now, but with the tests units out there should little or none teething issues.

The main thing I think sucks is advertising it as coming soon, eta, eta and etc. Yes take your time get right but stop advertising it until its ready. All your doing is creating some good press and some bad. Im still interested in getting one but I said screw it and got a Trex 450xl. I might consider getting the swift once it does actually come out. Until I will wait on the sidelines to go full elec. Besides I still need to burn off a couple gallons of fuel.

OK, the word is they are onthe way to us on the 27th of THIS month.

Most will be by ship but some will come by air to fill many orders that are waiting now.

I am also trying the NEU ORK motor today which will be 1/2 the price of the Tango and promissies the same performance. Got a look at them at the IHobby show this weekend and they are sweet

With the new Century ESC this will give you a power system for about $200. I am still using the CC Pheonix though which has performed great!!

FBronk,
Is there a new Century ESC that will work well with Swift? How is it comparing to the Phoenix CC 80?

Thanks

Speedo

Yes Century has a heat sinked high voltage speedo. I was running it at 22.2C with a mega 22/30/4 durring testing.
like fred stated around 200-220 for this power combo.
Fred will have many other motor feedback with this speedo to pass along as well.
The speedo does not even get hot after a 8 min 3D flight Very impresive running in GOV mode 2000 RPM head speed.

Holo foil power !!! Magnum fuel

It works very well and is cheaper than the CC ESC. A little less power but the P60 would be a fine choice too.
