Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > Can't decide on 60 Heli - Need Input

I have been hovering around on my R30 and starting to do some foward flight and having a blast! Thought I would add a lower priced 60 to the fleet to help out visually and of course from a stability standpoint.

I REALLY enjoy the R30 and plan on developing my skills on her and perfecting them on the 60.

Is this a bad idea?

I have been eyeing the R60 and of course the Freya. The Freya is just plain sexy and has some nice designs incorporated. But, not sure from an $ standpoint that it merits the higher price tag compared to the Raptor 60.

What do ya'll think?(yall - sorry, it's a Texas thing)

Either way I would have to go with the OS WC and GY-401 or 501. Not sure about servos though. I fly JR.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Can you do things such as nose in etc? If you've got the cash, I'd go with something like a Freya or Raptor, they're good machines. However, if cash is a little tight, I'd stick with the little raptor and fly and fly and fly it. Get through things like nose in, fff, stall turns, loops, rolls and autos and THEN look for a 60.

However, if cash isn't so tight, then the Freya, Raptor, Fury (and to a lesser extent, Vigor - it's a bit more expensive), are excellent machines.

Yup,

I can nose in take off, land and starting slow circles and figure-8's. But, I haven't tried any thing else except on the simulator.

I am amazed how well my plane experience carried over in forward flight. But, the tail as expected is where I am having to focus on.

I just could use a bigger size ship from a vision standpoint. I am getting some extra cash as a bonus and was thinking I better get that 60 size before the wife finds some other use of it for me.

Right now I am pulling towards the R60 because the Freya is supposedly a little weak with anything but a 80-90 and I don't have that much to spend.

Plus, the Raptor 60 parts are literally down the street from my office!

Can't decide. . .

Take a look at the 60 comparison thread in the Main Discussion section of this forum.

Ok,

I checked it out. As I expected the R60 is the cheapest and most economical way to go. But I am probably going to go with the Freya unless a I can't work it out financially. Then the R60 wins out.

Was surprised that the Fury was that well priced. I thought it would be more.

Still open to any more comments.

my R60 experience

Lift,

I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago. I really wanted the Freya but the Raptor was more economical. After getting the R60, building and now starting to fly it I am very happy with my choice.

I have also heard the Freya is heavy and the 60 is just enough for it. From what I have been reading on the web the Freya really needs the OS90 to get the performance you want and need. Of course these are just observations I have made from various web sources so YMMV.

If you'd like to read about my R60 experience so far go to http://www.geocities.com/jbrundt/raptor.html
