I have a sudden fascination with the Hornet CP. I am really interested in getting into one. I do have a few questions about them though. First a little background. My flying ability is fair. I can hover any orientation, loop, roll, stall turns of various types, split S, immelmans, auto, stationary flips and am starting to do some inverted hovering nose in and out. So I feel that I can control the little thing fairly well.

My questions are:
1. How much indoor space is really needed for just hovering? Would a one car garage be enough?
2. How is the roll rate on the CP model? How fast does it go to inverted? Or do stationary flips/rolls?
3. How much space is need for 3D style flying if it is even possible?
4. I guess I am looking at about $600 without transmitter to start?

I may be over estimating the Hornet's ability. What I would like to do is have it to practice stuff on at home. I don't really have that much time to go out to the flying field. I do have a G2 to practice on already, but would like to go this route also.

thanks,

Pete

Hi Pete,

Daring to respond after reading your tagline....

"How much indoor space is really needed for just hovering? Would a one car garage be enough?"

I often fly mine off my bed because it is the largest flat space in my apartment.

"How is the roll rate on the CP model? How fast does it go to inverted? Or do stationary flips/rolls?"

People lighten the flybar paddles for increased performance. Walt F. offered the idea of cutting out sections and covering the whole paddle with packing tape.

One thing to consider is that the stock can motor does not have the power to do those types of maneuvres well, and I could not imagine doing a flip. You would need to build it light and use a brushless motor upgrade.

For LOTS of great info go here:

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply.
I had never considered my tag line as a bad thing. "Getting even" is NOT just meant for revenge. You can get even by helping people also. The whole give and you shall receive thing.....

I did find the hornet-heli forum also, thanks for the link, lots of good info there. I am pretty sure I will be getting one of these in the not to distant future.

thanks again,

Pete
