Dennis

is primarily in charge of making it happen, Richard has put one together from what I understand. Dennis is going to send me what he has together on a .pdf in an hour or so. I have the engine/clutch/fan assembled and the RED locktite is setting up.

FWIW, it arrived 1 hour ago. I intend to get hustling on it this afternoon, and the winds seem favorable for testing later today.

Will keep you updated as time allows.

Airborne

Well, it went pretty smooth, actually !

I have NOT done the canopy or decals. Will weigh tomorrow night. It flew this evening "under the lights". Here is what I used on it.

9202's
9001 on throttle
2000 MaH NiHm pack
148dp RX, full length antenna
401/9254
Toki 40 with the Toki muffler/pipe

all stock, woodies and plastic tail blades.

Motor is RICH, but........has lots of promise. More than a 32 or 39 best I can tell so far.

Manual is almost done, guys....I saw a .pdf today, made a couple changes based on experience. Nothing major. About 6 hours to open the box and spin the engine.

Your in for a treat

yep

Tail feels SOLID out of the box. That IS different for sure.

Toki running well, still fat on the needles (nobody has come up with settings to start with, so I am kinda blind there) but impressive. More punch than the OS 32 already.

Gonna leave it STOCK and optimize it AS IS.

tail rotor...

AGRAV8

What's different about the tail rotor in the Pro as opposed to the Sport? Or are you refering to the TTdrive shaft?

The pro has the TT tail drive and the tail mounted servo. Doesn't it also have the BB tail blade grips? I noticed a huge difference when I installed my upgrades on my Hawk. Now I need a good gyro and tail servo.

Yep

Mike is correct on the TT and rear mounted servo. I will have to peek at the tail, as it was pre-built.

yes

I am communicating with manual writers in California about some things I DID DIFFERENT than what they had proposed. I also explained to them WHY I did it that way, or why I felt it was a better way to approach it.

They are creating detailed exploded views of the sub assemblies (for those that need to rebuild after a crash more than anything else) and also reshooting some pictures of the assemblies to follow my proceedure. Honestly, there has been a traditional uproar on the manual quality of the Century helis, and they are making an extra effort to make this manual alot more complete and easy to understand.

I know some of you guys have been MORE than reasonably patient waiting for these to ship out. I appreciate your being patient. I am doing the best I can to help them help YOU with the heli and manual. It is down to hours, not weeks, guys. We are humping to get them done.

I will take some pictures tomorrow evening and post them here in this thread so you can see my handi-work. Right now, I gotta go burn a tank in this Toki and try the "factory suggested" needle settings.

James,

You're doing a great thing. All the other RC model companies would be lucky to have you and all of us modelers greatfull to actually read a manual that has proper English and logical assembly procedures.

Once I burn through the three Hawk Sports I have, I'll then pick up a Hawk Pro to throw around and then a Predator Gasser Carbon to show off on

I'm especially happy to be a Century customer and looking forward to owning more of their products in the near future.

I'm thinking of ordering a Pro in a few months. Built a Hawk and a Falcon before but never flew any of them. Now I'm learning on a XRB to just get some orientation. The Hawk Pro is one of the nitro Heli's on my list to buy.

Hopefully James doesnt get mad at me, but i just cant keep it a secret any longer! i have just now gotten 5 flights on this heli, and Toki 40 with the supplied muffler, and well...its AWSOME i thought i was going to run about 9 degrees and thats about it. I have slowly been increasing the pitch each time i fly it...waiting to bog it down! but i havent yet. I have to be at, or over 10 degrees of pitch on this heli.

And the tail...well, its ROCK solid. Not a single bit of wag or anything. Im running 80% gain and this tail does NOT wag on me...its really awsome. My set up is as follows....

Hitec 8ch super slim RX
Hitec 545 on the ailiron, and elevator
Hitech 525 on the throttle
401/9254
GV-1
and a 1800mah 4.8v battery to power it

Id like to say its stock, but i have one upgrade...a anti rotation bracket. I got it because i am doing 3d with it.

When i got it, i did not have a instruction mauel for it...But i built it in 2 days, about 4 hours each day, and it was done. Set up and all. So it cant be that hard to build

Century has done a awsome job on this heli, and who ever gets it, i HIGHLY reccomend the Toki 40 engine. It really makes this heli come alive!

o yaa...the picture

i have a couple more in my gallery

yup, thats my flying spot...what is really cool is that it is actually above the ground by about 50 feet so you can fly below where your actually standing on the cement.

I would be flying right now, but stupid rain has came in I swear, we have the strangest weather where i live. Yesterday it was 73 degrees, bright blue skies, not a cloud around. Then, it got hot and muggy, clouds came in, and thunder storms hit..all in about and hour and a half....then tomorrow, its suppose to be nice and sunny again

Corey, why are you running 80% gain on the 401?

According to Futaba 70% is tha max you'd want to run and that's if you're having wagging problems with anything less then that number. Anything more then 70% and you're just over-working the servo.

Why not try dropping it down as close to 50% to see at what point it starts to wag or hunt. Also try power vertical ascents to test it too.

Just my thoughts based on a convo I had with a tech at Futaba recently.

The reason im running it at 80, is to see if it will wag. The lower the gain, the more of a chance it will hunt...wagging, and hunting are different. I know i can hurt the servo with a higher gain, but 3 flights wont hurt much, if at all on a new servo. The gain has been lowered, but the 80% was for the first few test flights

I have been flying it, and dropping out of the sky in power, and climbing, with no change of the tail. It stays right where it should. My gain during that was 65% and im sure i can go lower and still have awsome control, and holding power with the tail
