| Nick,
They will both do you well. here are some of the differences to consider and the pros & cons of each.
The Raven has the better head as it has the same head as the Raven 50 and the Falcon 50 SEV2
- This means it has a machined head block rather then the GRP unit of the Hawk.
- This means it has the 6mm feathering spindle of the Raven 50 & Falcon rather then the 5mm unit of the Hawk Pro.
- This means it also has thrust bearings like the Raven 50 & Falcon
But then the Hawk Pro will have bearings in the bell mixers and seesaw arms while the Raven 30 has bushings (acrually it does not cost to much to change the Raven 30 to bearings here. Of Note is that this is also where the Raven 30 differs from the Rav50 & Falcon, as both of the later are equipped with bearings everywhere.
Lower down the mainmast you will find the Hawk Pro with the same proven swashplate that has a machined metal inner star & a GRP outer star, while the Rav30 will have the better full metal unit.
They both have the same metal lower frame and similar metal sided servo/radio tray units.
Going rearward, the Hawk Pro has the advantage. Here again the Rav30 differs from the Rav50 & Falcon that feature the stainless steel torque tube drive system. The Rav30 has the same wire-in-tube tail drive system found in the Hawk Sport while the new HAWK Pro has the stainless steel torque tube system!!!???
But at the tail, the Rav30 has the same superb tail rotor found on the Rav50, Falcon and Predator that features super precision because both blade grips are supported by two radial bearings and a thrust bearing.
As for the control system, the eCCPM system of the Rav 30 is far as it is much quicker in response time, has far less collective to cyclic interaction then the mCCPM system of the Hawk Pro, and can be set up to deliver about a degree more cyclic pitch wich with a powerful motor like the OS37 is a real benefit when riding hard.
Adding a few bearings to the Rav 50 and the torque tube drive system wil turn it into a mini-50/60. It would take a lot more then that to accomplish the same with the Hawk Pro.
But that is propably why the Rav 30 is more expensive
