Garry,
No the kit is not what I'm changing. That's already done and the kit is not being changed. I'm just building it from a Freya kit and saving as much weight as possible. I'm switching to carbon boom and boom supports as well and plastic yoke and TJ-Pro instead of GV-1 that wouldn't work as well anyway. Things like that. I'm not taking any cases off like the 601 cases but I'm considering a CSM 560 if I get to try one and I like it as much as I like my 601. I'm using an SB-15 instead of an SB-16 or MPII, using plastic landing gear instead of metal EX landing gear. Things of that nature. I just want to have the lightest machine possible just to have fun with it.

Augusto, sorry for the killin your name. What is the delivery time on the Avants and a carbon Canopy? Also what is the thickness of the side frames. I noticed that there isn't any stiffeners between the main shaft and the boom. How is flex on this machine? Also are you using fairly standard ball bearings in this kit?

thanks,
Chris

If you go to the carbonxtreme website you can find the prices of replacement parts. They are updating the site daily.
You can find the hollow hardened mainshaft there at $26.75 part number CX00-100-601

Thickness is 2mm. There are stiffeners back of the main shaft up to the point where the tail pulley bearing blocks take over and the cnc boomclamps and boom continue so it's very rigid.

Regarding delivery times I don't actually work at CX so I'm not up to date about delivery times. I don't want to say something here that won't match their current times. You can find up to date info by sending an e-mail to CustomerService @ CarbonXtreme.com or using the contact page.

Sweet! I just noticed how easy the engine drops out of that thing for maintenance!

This is most definitely on my want list.

Also, I think the black metal (aluminum?) tail boom is no longer made for the XSpec, right?.... Will the Avant black metal tail-boom fit into the XSpec without modification?

Thanks,
J

The Avant doesn't include the boom.
It uses the one from your Freya kit.
I just like the Eagle black one so I have always used it in all my hirobo helis and Avants. The X-Spec uses the silver one. The black one is from the Eagle.

Bit of patience, I bet you'll see lots of videos with Avant somewhere in February. The delivery has just started and no one besides Augusto, Ray and some other local guys has already tried it. So give us a bit more time fore showing off with hardcore vid.

Augusto, are all the CNC machined alloy parts already clear anodized or are they just machine finished?

Weight Loss Question:

Why don't they make a carbon landing gear?

I have one for a 30 size heli and it's feather light.

Main shaft

The Avant has its own main shaft. Does not use the Freya main shaft.

IDHoverman,
Parts are CNC machine finished. We avoided the anodizing because it's electrically insulating.

I3DM,
I only know that the Avant I weighted was 9.7 pounds. I don't know what the weight of an x-spec would have been with the same equipment.
