e-Align T-REX 450-500-600 > Full Carbon Blade Test.

Just tried some 280mm full carbon blades on my T-REX. They are designed for a zoom, but though I would give them a go anyway.

Could only do a quick test in the driveway but I was astonished with the difference. Because they are slightly smaller and so much more efficient, the head speed has gone though the roof - was getting 2100 at 100% throttle with the woodies (400L, 2500kv, 15T, 11.1v) must be well over 2400 now, will turn the throttle down before I fly it more.

Climb out has near on doubled from what I can tell in my limited flying space, and cyclic is very sensitive. Will get up early and have a fly down the park in the morning with it....

People have reported here to get super performance on the new MS 280mm blades. I have not tried them myself, so i don´t know. BUT, flying the zoom woodies or SAB blades makes the T-REX come alive, better performance and response.

They are made by bolly props

www.bolly.com.au - very limited numbers at the moment, but if you ring Les he may have some left.

Otherwise I have a spare set.

BTW I had that fly at the park the next day, not as impressive as it felt in the driveway in a tight space, but still noticably better climb out and general perfomance.

Will hopefully get time over the weekend to do some proper back to back tests - ones done 3 -4 days apart are not real accurate usually, especially with a new model.

MS makes a set of 280mm CF blades that match the T-rex nicely if anyone wants to spend around $45 for a set. You can for example order them from Grandrc or FXAeromodels.

SAB 280mm blades

I am currently running with the SAB 280mm carbon blades, cheap, light and very good, and they where designed for the Zoom but fit the Trex perfect.

Ditto!

And just to add a bit of detail so that it's more than just a "me too" post, I am convinced that because they are so efficient they:

1) reduce motor load
2) reduce motor temperature
3) reduce battery drain
4) increase flight times

They are also dead strong. I've crashed into grass with my them on my Zap, which stopped the rotor assembly dead, bending main and feathering shafts. But the blades were fine.

I've even rattled them off tarmac and wooden floors, and other than a bit of scuffing of the tips they were fine. In fact I managed to repair the ragged edges with Chemical Metal, paint over it with Tipp-Ex and now you'd struggle to notice anything had happened to them.

At £25 a pair, compared to the Zoom's £18 for stock foamies, I reckon they are a terrific investment, and they look absolutely gorgeous!
