e-Align T-REX 450-500-600 > CC 35 setup help w/ CP3600 and TP2100

Hello,
I have a T-REX with:
Chilipepper 3600
CC 35 w/ PHX USB Link
Thunderpower 11.1V 2100
Berg 6 receiver
4 X HS-56B
GY401 gyro

Can you guys help me with the recommended settings for the CC 35? Also, how do you guys connect the ESC to the motor? Any connectors or just straight solder?

Thanks,

Balbs

Two options for connection ... 3.5mm or 4mm gold connectors or deans ultra. Direct soldering is a pain if you have to take the motor out for any reason or if you want to do some testing with the motor disconnected (for instance a range check).

Settings for the speed controller are:
Cutoff Voltage: 4 volts--basically disabled. You don't want your controller to cut power to your heli for any reason. Learn to recognize a tired battery and land.
Current Limiting: Disabled. Same reason as above. Lots of voltage spikes as collective changes. Don't want the controller acting funny.
Brake Type: Disabled. Reason is obvious.
Throttle Type: Fixed or Governor Hi/Low. Either works. I used fixed with very high throttle curve.
Electronic Timing Advance: Depends on your motor. Standard is always a safe bet.
Cutoff Type: Neither but since you have to pick one, I say soft cutoff.
Soft Start: I choose the last one--fast start. It's still not that fast.

Hope this helps.

What's the difference between Fixed and High Gov. mode? Does fixed mean the throttle is always in idle-up?

Thanks,

Fixed means that the speed controller relies on your throttle stick position and throttle curves that you program into the Tx to tell the motor what to do. High governor is where the motor tries to keep a constant headspeed and you control collective only with the throttle stick. You still need to set up a governor curve in your Tx like 85,85,85,85,85 (in a 9C radio for example) to tell the ESC what you want from it. I set mine as follows:
Normal mode throttle curve is: 0,50,90,95,100
Idle up throttle curve is:100,100,100,100,100
I run fixed throttle in mine.
Search around for governor issues. Some guys didn't seem to like it. Castle did do some improvements to the software in the ESC directly relating to governor operation back in October '04. The current software version is 1.10 One of the best things Castle offers is the ability to program and update your ESC using your computers USB port. It also offers the ability to go online and get the most current software release for your speed controller. The LHS that you bought it from may have had it on the shelf for a few months before you bought it......
Hope this helps.
