What's a good setting for the revolution mixing on the R60? Right now I have the rev up at 30% and the rev dn at 70% I'm using a Futaba 9VHP radio and a non HH gyro.

All sugestions are welcome.

TIA

Revo. Mixing

What gyro? 70% seems kind of high. Also what type of flying are you going for? Slow and smoth, fast up and down . Your head speed will affect the setting also.

Revo Mixing

Why bother with the revo mixing , get a heading hold gyro . They have come down in price and they are alot less headache than trying to get the revo mix correct .

I agree

I agree I have the 401 gyro on both my Rap 30 and 60 and have revo mix set to zero. The other day I was hovering it in a 15 mph cross wind and it held it perfectly

what revolution mixing is....

Guys,

I don't want HH gyro....don't need one. Correct me if I am wrong but revo mix is used for when you advance the throttle quickly or reduce it quickly and the tail won't make wild swings.

I have the revo mix set for my Nexus just right but when I use those same settings for the R60 there is still the tail swing.

I guess I'll just keep experimenting a bit at a time.

Rev. Mix

Jeff I have a Raptor 60. The setting for the up and down revo mixing are very close to the same,20%up and 28% down . I have an Enya 80 and a Gy401 gyro installed. The head speed is 1500-1560 RPM. in normal mode. I don't use HH in normal mode. It is more work to set up but when you get it right useing revo mix will give smoother turns(big ones) than HH. Try to keep the two numbers within 10 of each other. If you yet have problems your pitch and throdle curves may need ajusting.

Michael,

Thanks. I will try your suggested settings. I also agree with you on the HH. While it is nice for a beginner it can lead to a pilot relying on it too much and not force him to learn to fly the tail like he's supposed to.

Fly the tail like he is suppose to????????? Well just get rid of the gyro compleatly then. Heck a good HH gyro will still make you fly the tail or else you will be comming out of your turns side ways. Hey if you just have a burning desire to make things harder go for it.

HH = Beginner?

As a beginner, I find that high speed inverted tail first aerobatics are difficult with a rate gyro. That is why I choose to wuss out and use HH Mode.

Yeah! I think that was a "non-think" post... I can tell you that it´s really hard to keep a helicopter straight doing a rolling tail slide w/o hh on.. I know.. I´ve done it with a raptor (forgot the HH thingie on the trannie )

Revo. mixing

Some people are better pilots than I am! Rolling stall turns and fast backwards flight are things I can't do,(yet). You who can, are good pilots. HH does make this type of flying easer. I would think anyone that has achieved this level is not a beginner. When it comes to nonaerobatic flight such as scale, a rate gyro will make your turns look smoother. Doing a big figure 8 in rate mode does hide those shaking fingers and uncertain rudder imputs. This is when weathervaining can be put to good use. In HH mode every direction of the turn has to be defined. I use HH for aerobatics and do not think it is wussing out, just another tool. And a good one. I look forward to the next breakthrough in this sport.
