I'm interested to know this also. Before trying, though, I'd probably install on of the mico- mini base loaded antennas.

I'd bet the range is a far as you could see to really fly the thing. The antenna is wound around a plastic plate up front. When I find a gym to fly in, I'll probably get a mini straw, goop it to the strut, unwrap the antenna, and then extend a reasonable length of antenna outside, beside, and under the model. No tail rotor to tangle in, not looping etc, so I think the excess will be pretty safe to dangle.

My thoughts also Dr Ben. The wound up thing is ok for the close in.

Yes, it's made by Futaba. You can also use your own TX.

yea the transmitter is a full range unit but the antenna on the chopper is wrapped around that plate up front. im sure if you unwrap the antenna and run it under the heli it will extend the range, but how far will it go is the topic of this thread

I unwrapped the antenna and ran it along the tailboom. Havent yet tested the range but it's nice to think that I shouldnt have too much of a range issue if I decide to go balls out in a gym or some other large place. By the way, I was flying the heli down the hallway yesterday and I inadvertently ran it up against the wall. The thing bounced off the wall and kept on flying, no problem. I shut her down to check for damage and found none, not even the styrofoam blades gave! Continued flying without any problems. I'll admit I was going pretty slow when I hit the wall but still impressive.

Has anyone actually had any luck getting this to work with an alternate TX?

I've been trying to get it set up to use my 9z, but I only get barely a hint of any kind of response every now and then.... Very strange.

I work doing security in a mall. I have taken the heli to work and flew around the center of the mall after it has closed up. the range is pretty good. after you get so far it's pretty hard to see but I have tons of room.

I work midnight to 8 am so not many people around. just my partner and the janitor and they like to watch lol. I am going to put it back to the fastest agility setting again to fly there some more tonight and I will see just how far I can go before the range runs out and measure it.
