e-Align T-REX 250-450-500-600 > belt tension - loose or tight?

in the past couple months - it seems 50/50 of the folks that i've asked + what i read in the forum on belt tension that one side believes tight (or else they experience tail rotor slippage) and another believes loose (to remove any bind and extend flight times).

i've not done extensive testing, and both work ok for me (i'm running loose right now) and am seeing some belt shavings around/near the belt drive's gear (nearest to the head) after about 25 flights now. have we reached a consensus on this part of configuration yet?

I got mine loose as possible that doesn't allow slippage when trying to turn tail rotor manually. I get 14:30 minute indoor flights and 9-10 minute 3D flights. I've worked the tail pretty hard and don't have slips. GY401, 140% Tail ATV. Use what works for you, really.

I run mine loose, running tight definitely reduced my flight times and sapped power on climbout.

Mine is been running a little loose. Like everyone has said, loose but not loose enough that slipage occurs. I like to try and make the belts almost touch when squeezing them together around the belt pulley in the frame. Mine is all cutout so it easier to reach. If its to tight it will rob you of power, run your motor hotter, and shorten your flight times. I would rather spend $9 on a belt every 6 months as preventitive maitnenence then have a starved drive system.

At the first time i'm running with very tight belt tension and with this setup it made my motor get more load, more noisy and you main rotor will stop rotation very quick so you will lost Auto Rotation feature!
Now i setup my belt tention quite to loose and it work well.
