When using a Berg DSP 5 channel Rx. Can I use a 401 gyro or must I use the 240 gyro?

You need another channel to operate the GY401. This gyro does not have on board gain adjustment...it has to be done via the transmitter.

Use the GY240...I'm pretty sure it's got the same AVCS sensor as the 401 does anyways.

I had the 401. I like the Berg 5 so much I traded it for a 240. Common how much do you really adjust the gyro anyway? I havent noticed any performance difference. I also think they have the same sensor the only difference is remote gain.

Since I already have a Berg DSP 5 channel Rx,
and I also have a Futaba GY401 Gyro.

Would it be better to buy a GY240 to use with my Berg DSP 5 Ch Rx, or Buy a 6 channel Rx to use with my GY401?

Or better to buy the channel expander and use the Berg DSP 5 and the GY401 that I already own.

Not so worried about $$$, would rather have what would work better as well as keep weight down.

GY240 is lighter and uses one less channel. Perfect combo with the 9.5 gram Berg5 with DSPII.

Don't know if they have updated the 240's or we just got a dodgy one, but the first 240 we bought was only half way between a PG-03 and a 401 in terms of performance... it seemed to have a really slow output filter on it or something as if you plugged a .1sec servo in to it the max speed you would get out of it was about .25sec.

I know at least one other guy that had the same issue, so ever since I have always spent the extra and used 401's - its only like $20 difference anyway from where i get them - only issue is the extra channel required - not an issue for me as I run R770's.

Anyone else had this issue with a 240?

Futaba's website says the 401 does have a faster response time. The 240 is listed at 70Hz, while the 401 is listed as 270Hz. I went with the 401 because i have one on my hornet and it makes adjusting the gain so much easier. Its only 2 grams heavier than the 240 so its not adding a lot of weight.

I doubt these small microhelis with a non digital Futabaservos works better with a 401 than a 240.
Though I also got a 401 for my T-REX, but that so I can use it in some nitro heli later

I went withe the 401 also since I used the R770 receiver. The gain adjustment on the radio is so much nicer and it just seems to respond a little better than any other gyro I have ever used.

If the truth is out there; Why are we in here?

I went with the 401 also. I love how I can switch the Gyro from HH to Normal mode with the remote and adjust the gain if I have to from the remote.

I'd like to know from someone who has actually flown both extensivly, if they perform differantly?
