e-Align T-REX 450-500-600 > Where to put TP2100?

I have my Rexxy all together but it seems there is no good place to put the battery. Maybe hang it under the frame? It seems to long to fit up front.

Where to put a TP2100 in a T-Rex?

Kristopher,

Put it up front. You can still get the canopy on with alittle practice.

I bought a nice carbon graphite battery tray from:
www.mjpcarbon.com

http://www.mjpcarbon.com/inc/pdetail?v=1&pid=3034

I used thin double sided mounting tape from Tower Hobbies to mount it. Works great! I will post a pic for you to see:

see my gallery for my placement. it's just rubber banded there with no added extra platform. the advantage i've found to this was in a recent crash where the battery dislodged itself from there lessening the damage to the frame. i'm about to try 3d'ing mine and have shaken the bird while upside down without the battery shifting around.

hpilotrc and flytech,

Are those screws that hold that tray to the frame countersunk?
How does the canopy fit? I tried putting the canopy on but the battery is so in the way. Had to elevate the battery as far up as it will go, now only just barely touches the canopy.

Mounting the carbon tray...

Wattz,

I didn't use any screws to mount the carbon tray. I used a thin black double sided tape from Tower Hobbies. Works great. The screws would have only got in the way.

The canopy fits fine with this battery pack.

hey guys...

I just got this tray today. It seems with the tray as far back as possible...the notches for the rubber bands are hitting my canopy before the holes on the canopy meet the mounting posts. Therefore, the canopy is not fitting properly. Anyone else have this problem???

the only thing I can see doing is trimming the underside of the canopy to allow space for the rubber band notches. Or, trim the motor side of the battery plate so it sits further into the frame. Not sure if that will give you enough roomn though.

Its a tight fit im using one on my T-rex and it fits perfect. Im running the TP-1900 and my canopy fits with no problems at all. Maybe your plate isnt far back enough it should like up with the back where the hole just starts.

Get rid of all that crap. No tray, no rubber bands...the battery isn't going anywhere with the canopy on. I've been 3D'ing my Rex with a TP2100 and it's just stuck into the frame ahead of the motor, on the short tray of the frame. Once the canopy is on, the nice snug fit holds it perfect. I have done full stick piros (140% ATV) inverted and upright...it doesn't move. I also have my receiver up front, and the wiring bunch tends to help hold it in place as well. If ya want pics email me.

Gawd you people complain that the Rex is too heavy and turn right around and add crap that's unnecessary.

I have it as far back as possible..any further and it will hit the motor....yeah Erich I was thinking the same thing...the battery is held on pretty tight by just the canopy..just thought this would make things nice and neat. Oh well...

Very true but the plate is under a gram with the rubber bands I don't think that will weigh your helicopter down and you will lose flight time from it. I love mine but other people have there own opinions on it. Im just a upgrade freak sorry . Also I wouldn't call it crap unless you have used one before and don't like it. If I had some 2100 to put in my heli I wouldn't need the plate but im using the 1900 and they don't fit in that little spot so the plate is needed for me. Just my opinion is all

I agree with ErichF, don´t need any battery trays or straps or anything! Works fine without it!

I noticed I had to give mine a firm push to get it to fit between the frames. My other concern is what would happen in a crash, the end of the stock plate is likely to crease the battery.

TP 2100 3S battery. I just tried eliminating any battery holding mechanisms and just letting the canopy hold the battery and it works great. I slide the battery between the frames and place a piece of 1/2 inch DU-BRO rubber foam between the end of the battery and the motor (Mega 16/16/4) to protect the end of the battery in case of crash.
