Hi!
I have used over 10 l. fuel running in my OS 91 HGL with the Lötterle carb.
When trying to adj. the engine it seem like i cant get the low needle right.
The engine is not running very smooth on low rpm, and the low needle is adj. as far in as i can without getting too lean. The hi needle is turned out 2 1/2 turn

Can this have something to do with the hattory 700?

Hi,

my low needle is closed 2 turns. So it seems to me that You are running a fuel with Nitro or relatively much Oil, so that you have to open the needle so much. For such fuel Loetterle has a special needle or try fuel with no nitro and 10-15% oil. I do not think that Your problems are caused by the Hatori, I never had problems with it. Which engine do You use? Is it an FX ? If yes, has the cylinder already the two grooves below the ring? If this is not the case, you should put at least one extra seal under the cylinder head, otherwise You will not get rid of your troubles. The FX runs best with the Enya 4. I tried several cheaper glow plugs, but no success.

Best Regards

Christian

P.S.: My first FX (the old version without grooves) was also not running smooth. The second one which is a newer version is much better!

Hi cmsgarb.

Thanks for the replay.

I use the enya 4, o% nitro and 12 % oil. I have the right hand turning version.

The hi-needle is almoust 2 1/2 turns, and the low-needle is also about 2 1/2 turns.

The engine has never quit running at low rpm, but when lissening to the sound it seems like it`s to rich.

If i turn the needle more in, the engine hesitate before speeding up.

If i put one extra seal under the cylinder head, would i not loose engine power?

How do i find out if i have the second version engine?

Hi,

if you want to know which series of engine you have, you have to look on the piston. There are two slits below the ring if you have the newer version (same piston as 91sx). But I do not know if this difference is also valid for the left crankshaft version. An extra seal below the cylinder head you can hardly notice in the output power as long the engine is new. After 20h when everything is running smoothly, you can remove it! With my old engine I started with 2 extra seals.

What Do you mean with the low needle is 2 1/2 turns? From the maximum closed point ? I started from the point were the screw is plan, and then turned about 1.5-2 turns leaner (12% oil). My experience with the FX is, that if its running to lean, it sometimes sounds like to rich befor it stops. High needle is opened 2.5 turns.

Best regards

Hi!

I have one more tip. When the belt is not adjusted properly, so that it is running to the upper or lower side of the cluth bell, when you turn the cluth (only the cluth, not the big pulley!!), the it might start to make crazy sounds and can cause vibrations like a to fat running engine.

Best Regards
