e-Align T-REX 250-450-500-600 > T-rex using Hs-55 servos with ISSUES

Just assembled my t rex and having issues with my controls not moving the way they should. When I move my cyclic the swasplate moves but stays there and does not go back to neutral like it should. Using some hs-55 servos that are out of my ele planes that are a few years old. Is this my problem? Are 55's in general to weak for the t rex? Any one else using 55's with no problems. Got some hs56 on order and now I wonder if they will be a problem. Have taken the head and all controls apart several times trying to find any problems, none that I can tell, but I am a litlle new to this.

Desperately appreciate any help,

I have HS55 all around at the moment and my cyclics are fine although still yet to fly. No god damned batteries. Yet

I will replace the tail and collective with HS50 and 56 later.

I burnt out a few micro servo's on the TREX collective, ended up using a GWS Naro as it's much stronger, the collective was quite notchy

I am using GWS Naro too - they're better and cheaper than HS55.

Had the same problem, remove the ball links off the swash and feel for notchy movement, I found that the rocker pivot screws where too tight. While the links are off check your servo's, they should be free without the links attached.

Looking for the rocker pivot screws and not seeing anything in my instruction manual with the word rocker on it. Can someone pinpoint what this is called and possibly page and part# in manual. Thanks

The rocker is the bit that your aileron servo is mounted in. This thing sits inside your main frames under the swashplate. On it's sides (in the the oval slot of the mainframes) are the pivot screws, if you over tighten these then you get a very notchy elevator linkage movement. Hard to explain without a piccy.

Thank you clarifiying that. I think I found my problem. I had over torqued every single one of my linkage balls and there are plenty of those around. They were so tight the balls could not move at all. I went back and loosened then enought to just spin freely and that has made a world of difference. No hs 55 problems just me the mechanic.

Thanks for all the helpfull input. Eveyone who has had and is still having problems may want to check their balls I wish I had checked mine sooner would have saved me a few hours of troubleshooting.

The balls are supposed to be tight. The "movement" should be between the plastic link and the ball, not between the ball and the screw. With loose balls, you have metal on metal rubbing (with the mounting screw acting as a pivot) If they had intended this, there would be a bushing there, and they would have used a shoulder bolt (so the threads wouldn't cut into the ball) if the balls are tight, then you have just plastic on metal, should be much smoother and more precise, and most important, less prone to wear.

Wow, I thought that was the case but when I couldn't find anything else wrong I figured that maybe they wer suppose to move a little as well. Makes sense what you are saying, they would have put bushings in there if they were suppose to move. So I guess I will go back in and see why everything is so stiff and tight.

I do have the new vesion kit where the pieces that the linkage ball fit into, not sure what they are called are all purple. I wonder if this has somthing to do with my everything seems so stiff and why the swasplate will not go back to neutral once you move it.

Thanks for the heads up BB.

My links are purple too, I have no experience with the older kits, apparently the new links are supposed to be much tighter and less sloppy. Like I said I have nothing to compare it to, but mine weren't that tight, (no where near to the point of binding.) You might want to check the center ball in the swashplate, that was much tighter than any of the control linkages, Unhook all the pushrods, and just move the swashplate by hand, see what you find.
