Century Hawk - Falcon - Raven - Predator > HAWK III or HAWK IV

i was hoping someone could tell me what improvements have been made to the hawk iv and are they significant??? i have an opportunity to purchase a hawk iii at a good price, or should i spend the extra 75.00 and get the hawk iv? they are both new.... thanks

what improvements

Can't answer what improvements between the 3 and 4, hopefully someone else can fill in that part, but I just built a 4 and paid around 200 for it, so if your price on the 4 is in that range, I'd probably say go with the 4.
If you do get the 4, I can help you out with a couple of little snags in the manual I ran in to if necessary.

Differences between H-III and H-IV

The major differences that I can remember from the top of my head between the III and IV are:
1 - The longer 10mm mainshaft from the SE instead of 8mm unit- this means they also will have different size head block , washout hub, and inner ball of the swashplate.
2 - A canopy with a smoother finish for better decal adhesion
3 - 2 extra bearings on the elevator bellcrank
4 - Larger pitch range 18 to 24 degrees
5 - Uses the SE hex start coupler instead of the cone start.

Very much worth the $75 increase

Sounds like it a 30 size Falcon SE. All the upgrades mentioned by the Dr. will make it be better overall.

Hawk III Vs. Hawk IV

The hawk IV aalso has dual tail boom struts and two additional bearings in the elevator assembly vs. the III

Hawk III or IV

Believe me, it though the H-IV has some improvements over the III. The III is still a far better 30 size heli then almost any others out there (except the Hawk SE ;-)) )

So either way....you will be happy.
