e-Align T-REX 450-500-600 > T-REX/Chili Pepper 3600kv--10T pinion is too much, but 9T is GOOD....

Working with Castle to install the USB link and had quite a lengthy conversation. He felt we would be better off with a Feigao motor as they are on par with Hacker quality but not the the cost. The Chilli Pepper may not be manufactured to the same tolerances and is somewhat left to chance on how well it will perform.
This really throws a wrench in the plans. I was ready to get the 3600 and investigate the best battery for a while. ANY THOUGHTS?

He also didn't have much good to say about the Blue Bird servos, and still preferred the HS55s. I ordered a couple of 371s and plan to experiment with both on planes and Helis.

I have a chili pepper 3600KV on my rex , waiting to get another pinion for it, tried an 11 tooth from the rex kit and it was abit much, the head speed was very high, I think a 9 tooth would be about right. Even with the 11 tooth the chili had bags of power, just the motor was getting abit to hot, the kokam 1500 battery seemed to be fine. The pheonix 35's governor was at 53% with a head speed of around 2400 .

Will come back and post a progress report when my 9 tooth pinion arrives.

By the way get the HS56's they are great, using them in my t rex.

i just talked to my buddy that put the HS 56's into his Trex...not 2 min after getting the machince fired up and the collective servo went bad. started jumping all over the place and wouldnt center up. he didnt say what he was going to be replacing his with, probably a futaba servo.

On a more chipper note....i got my Trex ordered and on the way hopefully will be here tomorrow. I'll be setting my Chilli Pepper up on the 9 tooth to start. Cant wait to get this!!!!

Just hovered 2 batteries in the backyard with the 8T pinion. Tached hover headspeed at 2160rpm. Full stick headspeed is 2000rpm. Climbout is satisfactory. Not a rocket, but ok. Will hopefully get to the flying field and thrash it a bit this weekend.

I returned to a 9T pinion. Good compromise of power and run time. 8T was good for low amp draw but climbouts were weak. Got a couple flights in today at the field. So far so good. A little inverted FF and some hovering and some backward flight. Tail holds pretty good. Did a couple tic tocs but it wants to fall. That's ok...start 'em high.
First real flights with no radio glitches, etc.

I have a CP 3600 with a 9T pinon and a 3s TP2100, and I thought I'd share my limited experience. This is my first heli, so I can't really evaluate how powerful this setup is for 3D, but I've been pleased with the results so far. I've run through about 15 charges without a crash, so you can put me down for recommending the Trex to beginners. I lost one set of wood blades to my training gear getting hooked by a grass root on takeoff, so the gear has been off for 5 packs, so far without incident.

I have mine setup to hover at half stick with 65% throttle and approximately 7 degrees of pitch. I do not have a whattmeter or anything of the sort, but I hovered for 6 minutes today and the battery held 1270 mAh afterwards, so I should be pulling around 13 amps at hover. Battery temperature is "warm but not hot", and motor temp is hot, but less than 100 C by the spit test . Climbout impresses me, but that doesn't mean much as this is my first heli. All I know is that when I jam the collective up to get out of trouble, it moves alarmingly quickly. Of note, the battery was getting -much- hotter when I initially set it up, with hover at about 85% throttle and 5.5-6% pitch.
