Robbe Cuatro - Millennium - Nova - Dyna-X > First flight with my milli!

Hey guys yes I am in love hehehehe. Took the milli out and put the first flight on her. The heli was almost perfect right off the bench, it needed a couple clicks here and there and then she was hovering hands off.

I had a fuel leak from the cap for the first two tanks but after I got that fixed I burned one more tank. I did a little 3d with it and from what I can tell it is a rocket on rails, it goes where you point it and stays there.

Asym loops where a breeze and colective pumps where very easy with it. The heli seems to have more power then my R80 did even though it has all the same gear, blades, motor ect. I am hoping to put a gallon through it tonight when the heat is not so bad.

Also hoping to have a very cool pic for all you robbe lovers soon, at the feild where I was flying there is 6 milli's and a couple se's so we want to get a group shot.

Talk to you soon

Hey blair The tank trouble I turned out to be the caps on the tanks. There was two of use that had them same trouble, we tryed each others caps and it worked. Both tanks are now fixed.

setting up the heli from the manual and tips I got from you and others made the heli very easy and trouble free right from the bench. The only other thing that I had go wrong was one bad link on a bell crank to swash plate. I guess when I was loosing them up I made it to loose. The blades tracked perfect on the first flight, I could not beleave that they where bang on!

After three tanks the main and pinion are very smooth, I bet if blew on them it would turn. The heli is very light from what we can tell. With carbon frames and tail fins it is right on the 10 pound mark or very close. The clutch was grabby on the first two tanks but broke in very nice by the thrird tank.

How much grease do you guys use in the tail case?

Anyway I will get pic's tonight of the heli.

Grease

Hi Slug,

I've used SuperLube in the tailcase but found it too "dry". I found I had to regrease the tail about every 20 flights.

I've since gone to the Bosch purple grease that Schluter used to be famous for. It lasts much longer in the case and is much "stickier".
Works great in bearings too.

You can get it at Rick's for about $8 a tube.

As for greasing the gear box, remove the grub screws on each side of the gearbox (you did install them didn't you?). I use a dentists "irrigator"
which is a big plastic syringe filled with the purple grease and inject it into the case while spinning the tail rotor. When the grease comes out the opposite hole you are done. Re-install the grub screws!

Go Fly!

After the first couple of flights there will be excess grease around the bearings. Wipe it off and you are done.

You will know when to regrease when after a landing, with the engine off, and the blades still turning you will hear a soft chatter coming form the gear box. Repeat the above instructions and carry on!

Remember to keep the TT dog bones greased as well.

Hey Sluggo;

Congrats!!!

What engine are you using? Tell us more about your set up! My Milli II will be flying in a month or two...Looks like a winner!! Where can we get CF frames?

Hi Ehab here is my setup

Ys 80 with ksj muffler
9c radio
9252ds on pitch and cyclics
gy502/9253 on tail
9202 on throttle with gv-1
pcm rx/ 2700mah nimh pack

Robbe carbon frames and tail fins from Bob J at http://www.skylinemodels.co.uk/ vic's carbon flybar paddles
MAH 700mm carbon blades with MAH tails blades

Other then that it is setup to the manual. When usinf a 80 you have to add a shim to the motor mount and slot the top holes for the pinion bearing block. They only need to be opened a small amount just to make room for the larger pinion.

As for radio setup I run -10 0 +10 in all modes with very little to no expo. Gv-1 is set to 1500rpm for hover 1650rpm for idle1 and 1750rpm for idle2.

So far the only thing that has caused any trouble was the tank cap but it looks like we have that fixed now so I am hoping to have the 80 tweeked today so I can spank this heli hehehe. Oh ya and get some pic's and maybe video.

Pitch

Hey Slug,

Is that engine new or broken in?

I see you're running 700's @ +/- 10 degrees.

Is that max pitch at 1750?

I was hoping to pull 710's at those same values.

Thx Sluggo, I mean Chris

Have you ordered from Skyline in the UK? BTW, what pinion gear and fuel are you using. I have used CP30% and WC30% and like the later more.

Hi Blair no it can pull more but after talking to a few pro pilots you really do not need to run anything more then 10 to 10. I am running 1750rpm to try it out, I usually run 1900rpm. The motor has about 8 gallons throught. Yo should have no problem pulling 710mm. I would be flying them if I had them. I find in some areas that the 700mm blades do not load the motor good.

Ehab I have never ordered from Bob my self but a couple friends order from him all the time. His prices are good and you get fast delivery.

I am running a 14 tooth pinion which gives me 8.5 ratio, I am running cp 30% fuel.
