@pwkpete

Thanks.. I am still looking and deciding right now.. It seems that some folks/manufacturers are more concerned with low price than trying to make a truly hardcore 3D machine. I think a lot of that lies in that these micros, up until now, have been mostly a novelty or a door into the hobby for beginners... From what I am reading and seeing on videos this is rapidly changing...
I fully realize that no matter how good these little fellars get, they will never fly the same as a 90 due to reynolds #'s.. However, if I can get my heli fix on the vacant lot I purchased next to my house without a brutal 2 hour round trip drive, some of which is through bad territory, than I will be more than happy..

Jeff,

Take a look at some of Eric Larsons vids with the H2. The TRex also has possibilities, but the power to weight is definitely in the H2's favor.

The Maxir is about $100 more then the H2 in comparable kit form. Maxir has better parts prices, fewer resellers. You can see my buildup thread in the micro heli section on rcgroups....

I love tearing around my backyard with my H2's, the neighbors dog hates it though. Of course it probably doesn't help that I buzz him occasionally

Hi guys!

I finished building my Maxir last night and hovered it in my living room. Wow, it feelt really light on it's feet! I really liked the control precision as well and it's soooooo quiet.

Anyway today I took it out for a spin and BAM it hit the ground! It seems it was a radio lockout as in one of the banked turns it just stoped responding to my inputs. Upon inspection none of the servos moved to radio input untill I turned the system off and on again. I am using one of the new Sombra Shadow 1 receivers. I have one in my T-rex as well and it never gave me any problems...

Luckily it wasn't a huge crash, but still one of the main blades broke, the flybar and spindle was bent, the mainshaft was bent too. Now comes my question. How do you guys take out the mainshaft? It will be a pain in the *ss to hammer out those small brass pins I am afraid.

Thanks!

Bummer, sorry to hear that.

Can you get the head one out and pull the main shaft out through the bottom?

To remove the head pin, I took a grip and sqeeze the pin in each side until it remove. Samething to put in.

@Jeff (Fuzz)

Perhaps I was a but hasty on my criticism of the tail on this machine. I don't like the pins, but they work well, and there is no slop. I was impressed.

I hovered it, did some slow piros, some FF/BF in the basement, and I really like it. Will toss it around better on Tues night in the gym...

Great! Before mine crashed it was very precise also, no slop whatsoever! BTW it turns out the Shadow 1 receiver I had with the older firmware is prone to malfunction in very cold weather. I am sending it back to Sombra for free firmware update....

Forum?

So when is this heli going to become the subject of it's very own topic?

Unless more Maxir topics pop up, it probably won't...

Need to stop posting in the same thread and start clogging up the General discussion

Does anyone have experience with the SE kit? Are there any changes aside from the AL frame? How much heavier is this compared standard kit?

AL frame, al head, 3d CF paddles, cf blades, alu swash...

Of all upgrades, I think the alu swash is the most important.

Ok , since i read your post this morning , and i was in need of some Maxir parts , I whent to see Etienne ( Icare ) ... he just received 5 or 6 SE kit and 1 LE kit ... it's awesome !!! we weight a stock one against the SE and the SE is 10 gram over !!! wow ... i must get one ... with my name on it !!! ( the LE come with a black anodised axi , and all the possible upgrade, and i think the bearings are better, but i can be mistaken , my eyes where full of tears ... ;o) ) . I am pretty sure a stock Maxir will weight more with all the upgrades . Etienne tried to get me into a LE before , but since i am buying a house , there is other priority's ... but i think i will fall into it . I mean , i have so much fun with my stock Maxir , i never new i would learn that fast . I do maneuvers with my logo10 now that i would not dare to dream of a year ago .

Look at some pictures we took this weekend !!! we actually did more inverted practice then standard flying . With the 3d paddle it roll verry nice .

after a year , i still enjoy this heli a lot ...

Etienne told me the SE kit is every upgrade witout your name on it and witout the certificate of authencity . The LE is the same kit but with the anodised axi black motor , your name on the frame , and a serial number . In my hand , there was no difference from both . Only cosmetics ... but the black axi sure look great !!! hehehe ... i can confirm with Etienne , but this is what he told me last night .
