Helnet,

Those specs are for 6.0V. I talked with them at a swap meet in town, they verified it.

Expect a 20% decrease in performance for 4.8V, roughly. Specs are still not bad with that considered.

I finally broke down. Have been eyeing this little heli for about 1 month now and I decided to order it today. Should be here on Friday. Can't wait!

Since my Lehner 1020/17 should be here any time now that's what I am going to use in this heli. Shaft size is the same as the Axi motors so it should work fine with the Laheli pinions. KV is 3529, but this being a Lehner can be wired for 3529/1.73 = 2039 if I am not mistaken. Will be using it with the 15t pinion as this is the smallest they had in stock. I think I will have to set the Schulze for lower max HS, as this gearing will be too low for this combo. Never used Schulze ESC before so hope it will work out fine.

I'll be using 3 Futaba 3108-s and Hs-50 for the tail.

Adding to the post should a forum be in our future. My kit will be arriving tomorrow, with the rest dribbling in throught the week. Something arrived today, I haven't been ablet to make it to the mail room to see what.

Balh Blah Blah, I went with four Futaba servos, on Russ' experiance with them. Where the rest of you are doing mini reviews on it, I will probably be doing crash economy reports.

I'm not such a good pilot.

I bought a RTF version and it was surprising well built. I really don't like the slot in the chassis where the ESC is supposed to mount. It's right behind the receiver and this arrangement has always been a glitch producer on my helis. I moved the ESC to the rear of the heli under the Gyro and have had many trouble free flights to date. This arrangement also put the heli in perfect balance with Gen 2 ThunderPower 1320mah 3s packs. AUW came out at 373grams. I did shorten all wiring, remove the cases on both the Berg receiver and Futaba Gyro and used my favorite Mint waxed dental floss to secure all the components that were not secured with fasteners. A great little heli and an excellent flyer.

AXI 2208-26 outrunner / 18t pinion
MaxIr One-way upgrade (a must have)
Berg DSP III 6 channel rcvr
('cuz I had an extra one to use and didn't have a spare 5-channel on hand)
Hitec HS-55 (x 3)
Hitec HS-50 (T/R)
Castle Creations Phoenix 25 ESC
ThunderPower Gen 2 1320mah 3s Lipoly packs with Dean's Micro connectors

Hey Boyd , nice pictures of yours ...

Nice heli !!! hope you have a lot of room to fly it because this thing can go verry fast if you push it !!!

I now have 33 flights with mine witout any mecanical break !!! no striped pinion , no unglued servos in flight !!! what a blast !!! i flew indoor Saturday morning and it is still rock solid . I agree , the one way is a must . I already asked Ian about puting the one way stock in the kit . I am also happy to have the head button with the one way ... the main rotor can continue to turn for ever and it is nice to have this button to stop it !!! ...

Boyd I like your dental floss idea. I am an old Upholsterer by trade and I used to specialize in aircraft (besides being an active pilot for years) and Ive always noticed how they tie all the avionics wiring and actually all the wiring in an airplane is tied with special twine.

Ever since I started thinkin about that, and started tieing all my helis wiring up with my thread for my sewing machine, my models all look very tidy and I get compliments all the time about it.

So my helis are all tied up with my sewing thread and I use a button slip knot, which when you tie it allows it too only slip one way. I wish I could show you my technique, I think you would dig it.

By the way your Maxir looks great, I think im a little jealous. I gotta order one.

I wanted to ask you, how much better is the Maxir than the H2, or is it.
Beins you have both I thought I would ask YHO on the 2.

Not tryin to hijack here, just a real quick < short> overview when you got a second.

Thx much

Not sure yet, it's not in the air. I did start a construction thread on rcgroups in the micro heli section. I did comment on some of the issues I had with the kit...

Castle Creation PH25

Boyd,

Would you be kind enough to share your setting for the CC PH25 ESC and the GY401. I've exactly the same setup like yours but I can't get my tail to stop wagging. Is yours running HH mode? Is the tail very steady?

Thanks,

Have you disable the governer mode on your castle? I know the governer mode on this esc have some trouble.

I've tried to use the fix speed (for FP heli) mode with my CC PH10 it didn't help. I haven't tried with the CC PH25 yet. With the CC PH25 in high governor mode I've tried to use the ZOOM Gyro and the GY401 gyro and both get wagging tail, but the GY401 hold it a little bit better.
I will be getting a Schulze 11.20 this week and I will try this last possible combination before giving up on this helicopter.

Fast backwards....

Hey guys,
I am really looking hard at micro 3D heli's.. I have kind of had it with the 2 hour round trip drive to the flying field... I have a space big enough on my property to fly these guys comfortably.. I am thinking of ditching my .90's and going with these lil' guys....
I am a very accomplished 3D pilot.. My big question is::: Is anyone doing fast backwards flight with one of these?? For example, has anyone done a backwards super collider?? If so, how does the tail hold?? Some of the videos are very impressive... I am starting to like the Russian techno/disco.. I would prefer to pay a few extra bucks for a ready to go machine, like the MaxiR as opposed to having to fiddle with a Trex and do a lot of mods to save a couple of bucks..
How long has this company been in business??
Thanks in advance for all replies..

Jeff,

Looks like the company has been around a couple years. (Small setup)

Too early to tell how this model will fare. I'd like to see a few more US companies support this heli, Russ is good, but nothing like having a few backups! Lots to like and a few gripes. I don't think the way the tail pitch slider forks are stock will hold for fast backward flight. I'm working on an alternative.

If you want to take a chance, give this one a try. For something tried and proven take a look at the Hornet 2 (it has it's flaws too), you'd probably want the microHeli tail setup though.
