would 710's with 105's be fine for 3-D?

any problems with them touching?

The machine has a 33" boom on it so there would be no problem with overlap. But, you will find that the Ion-X likes a 700mm blade and 95mm tails. The mains that work the best are the TG "All 'round 3D" in a 690mm, or the MAH 700mm G-2's. Both of these blades are tapered chordwise from root to tip which seems to work really well on this machine. The SAB's in a 680 or Gamma in 700mm work well too.

why does it not like 105's? or rather why does it like the 95's better?

tell me it isnt true

Alistair I dont know if an Ion is the best idea for you you do know that lithiums can explode when you rainbow into the dirt repeatedly correct??

JK, good luck with the Ion and FWIW I am running SAB 710's with the tempest FAI head and this is way to much disc for 3d.

Eric was flying the Mah, and shetler the SAB's and they both seemed to work well.

Tail authority on 95's seems good, but then again our flying "style" differs slightly

The head speed is higher on the Ion than most people run on the Fury. 95 s are working great for me .

i like the 710's for the big stunts, and speed. that's why i want to know if they work. i use a lot of cyclic, so i'm not thinking that it will be slow.

i like the tail authority that the tail disc offers with105's.

so basically it works fine, but MOST people use 680's/690's with 95's... correct?

what head speeds are you guys running? what grease have you got in the tail box?

is 1950-2000 too high for the ion?

tibbytibtibtiddlytib.... at least a nasty shant will produce a spectacular light show so i won't feel too bad 'bout it

also, i kinda just want to try the big electric thing for myself. i don't want to be told how good or bad it is from other people. i want to find out, and i want to see what i can do with it.

also, you don't usually fly someone elses machine in the same fashion that you'd fly your owne... or at least you try not to lol

anything to watch out for in particular on these?

what motor and fuel cells for maximum power and torque? i don't need to be in the air any longer than 10 mins, flight length is not a huge concern for me.

does the fury CNC anti-rotation work on the ion?

thanks

Alistair, for max power you want either the Torcman LRK design motor (can be seen at www.torcman.de) or an actro 32-3.

I would say the 32-3 is a good mix of power, reliability, and runtime.

If you are willing to drop the coin (and I am guessing you are) the 32 series with the schulze 40.160 and 12s is the most powerful setup I have seen to date. It has 90 stomping power.

You can take a look on here at Ben74's conversion of a Predator using I believe a 32-3 running 12s3p (or maybe 2p cant remember) and the thing has unreal power.

the 40.160 is a monster, both in size and in price but is the most reliable ESC out there right now as far as I know. It is also one of the few that can cope with partial throttle settings so you can run 1300 for some of your lovely FAI hover training, and then crank it up to 2K for some of your patented tail annihilating piro flips

Once you get a big electric you will be hooked! They are a blast.

Good luck, let me know with any other ?'s you might have as I have traveled down this road a bit.

Oh and I tried 710's on my first Ion with the stock Hacker setup and really liked the 680's or 690s much better. Felt very very floaty on the 710s

so can you honestly say that with your recommended set up?

i'll try my SAB 680's first then, but i think i'm going to use my SAB 105's for the tail.

i want pissed off electric

pm me your telly number. we can chat 'bout this.

i have to go. my parrot wants to play with me, and there is no stopping him... i'm pretty sure he wants to play, 'cause he keeps say...."i want to play!" lol
