| Okay, so after starting flying airplanes at around 12 and 4 years of going through lots of balsa and covering, I want to get a helicopter. They have always fascinated me and after doing some research I found that a brushless electric helicopter would suit my needs well.
First off, is going electric a wise decision? I have been flying brushless li poly powered 3d airplanes for the past year since li poly has come on, I have the Astro109 charger already, and I know my electrics well, or at least I think I do .
I do not have an unlimited fund, although I could buy a Raptor 60 say and deck it out with complete composites I need to get a car . So with that in mind I am not one to cut corners and looking around what say 500-600$?
Can I use my Futaba 9CAP PCM transmitter if I just adjust the gymbal in the throttle by smoothing it out? I am not sure of the software functionality with the helicopters or what they need so this is why I ask.
Okay, now onto the Trex.
I have searched through and read the 40 page thread about the Trex and there doesnt seem to be a solid brushless motor for this helicopter? I have had a Hacker before and they are awesome, some are saying the Align brushless works great? If so thats awesome because for $38 thats got to be the cheapest brushless motor I have ever seen. Opinions please, I am not afraid to buy the best motor, because I know how important it is to have power in certain situations .
I presume the Hitec HS 55s are good for this heli, I have about 3 dozen of them from airplanes and some new.
Now, battery, I prefer Thunderpower being that they hold their voltage underload much better then some other packs I have used over the year, whats the consensus on the 1320 and 2100 packs? I have had both but does the Heli fly a lot better with the 1320, I would be plenty happy with a 10 minute flight.
And lastly, any tips you would have for me that I am for sure forgetting such as a good gyro?
Sorry if this topic has been beat to death, I am new around these forums and helicopters so I am always interested.
Thanks for your time
