I am very disapointed that the SE is is being discontinued. And I also add my voice to those that wish that robbe Germany had not done this dumb thing.

BUT: I think the comments about Jeremy Waltzer aka: Mckoi, are wayyyyy out of line. This guy is one of the most decent people I have met in this hobby. I have seen him go out of his way numerous times to help people. I have been the benificiary of his help my self many many times. Maybe Mckoi's point did not come accross as intended the first time, but what he says makes sense, Until Robbe Germany decides to pay more attention to what is popular in the US, we have to make our choices accordingly.

I have dealt with Irwin if that is the same Irwin of hobby lobby, and I can tell you that to compare Jeremy to Irwin is a damn insult to Jeremy, and frankly steve I think you owe Jeremy a apology. Now I see that happenning. My opologies to you steve if you do infact retract what you said.

And that comment about "weisenheimer Robbe usa rep " what the hell is that about?

Okay; I don't know you, Jeremy, and comparing anyone to Irwin is indeed a low blow. That was wrong; I'll take the hit and offer my apologies for it.

Nothing else has changed. And there's nothing for me to "get over"; I don't have a Futura. Looks like I never will, now. If you're referring to my posts, I was just amazed at your about-face. None of it matters to me one way or another.

Well, no one wants their favorite helicopter to be discontinued, and I went off the deep end ...since no one wants to buy my SE's I guess i'll have to fly them. DAMN! Jeremy; as the the "Rumors" about the demise (or not, as the case may be) of the SE, those rumors came from the UK importer, a dealer in Europe and from the offices of Robbe itself! Everyone to the man said the SE would be kept in production! So it turns out that everyone else in the World was wrong and HUI was right. Maybe Robbe was just stalling to dump inventory on the market, a current production heli will sell much better than one thats been discontinued. Anyway; this weekend my wife asked a good question: "so if you sell these, what are you going to get?". So I looked long and hard on every forum I'm on (which is Wwaaayyy too many...) and looked at all the other designs on the market and realized that nothing even comes close to the SE in terms of design, robust construction and ease of maintaince. Checking the other manufacturers Q & A sections revealed bad T/R gears, cracked frames, parts wearing out too quickly, frame flex and tooth decay, and that was some of the small stuff...only the Robbe section had more Q & A to do with flying and set-up than the plaintive " my bearing holders in my XYZ heli wore out after 3 gallons of fuel" of most of the other groups. So I guess I need to suck it up, get a life and be happy I have the SE's, I will cease the WHINE and BITCH and get back to my 3 F ...I realized it could be worse, I could have owned a Kalt Alpha or a Century Ninja Pro Magnum Master MK II. At least I'll have Robbe producing parts... Chris ( I think I got a Grip...on what I have no idea...).

Maxx, Steve ,
sorry if I seem like a over zellous Robbe USA Rep at times. and that inturn shows my frustration with revisting old issues and harping on them again and again..In retrospective what other brand gets so much flack when they discontinue a model? not many! so I guess thats a compliment in many ways.

in the last month I sold my Futura 1.8 gasser and converted my SE into a futura nova so I am SE less for the first time in 10 years....
I really am having a ball with the nova it retains the belt drive for the smooooooothness and it has the milli servo lay out, I'll let you know how the stacked frame design holds the first time I plow it in , hopfully not any time soon, 2 weeks ago I flamed out inverted low and had a hard auto, suprisingly little damage for how Hard it hit, blades, boom, shafts, 4615 gear, skid, everything else untouched....

Cheers

Jeremy

MAXX Bearings

Well just to let you know what I do with my bearings on my S/E's and seems to work better than grease, I use STP oil treatment, I heat it up until it gets like water and I put the bearings in there and let the STP get in the bearings & then leave them in there until the STP cools and I take my bearings out and wipe them down and there lubed and they work great that stuff sticks to it like glue.

SE

Hi Jeremy, just wanted to add another comment of thanks to you.

3 years ago, We set up my one of my SE's in your basement (during your FF). I enjoyed the machine so much, I got 3 more (one still boxed). So far the only parts I have worn out are clutch shoes and main shafts (4 Crashes not included). The time you spent helping me was greatly appreciated.

I plan on keeping my SE's till the parts run out. I will however move on to a newer model, probably the Nova. Sad to see the SE go, but I think it had a good run.

another spoiled SE flyer

Anyway; this weekend my wife asked a good question: "so if you sell these, what are you going to get?". Yup. When I saw the writing on the wall for the SE, I bought a Bergen 3D thinking that I'd switch... the design is every bit as good (in some ways better), but maintenance is a pain in the butt by comparison. Robbe really spoiled me!

It was kinda funny to see Robbe go to stacked frames at the same time JR and Bergen and MA came out with helis using the Futura-style frame design (which IMO is much more elegant). I'm hoping that whatever comes after the Nova/Mille generation will use an SE/Vigor/Fury/Trep3D sideframe design... but in the meantime I'm just glad to hear that they plan to support the SE for a few more years. I won't be getting rid of my SE until something better comes along, and as far as I'm concerned that hasn't happened yet.
