Blades, Night Flying and Painting > Shuttle vs. Sceadu blades?

I bought a new set of blades today since my buddy crashed his heli into mine... all they had in stock were blades foir a sceadu. Thay are still 550s and seem to fit ok, however the shuttle stock blades are cut square at the end and the sceadu blades have one rounded corner at the tip on the leading edge.

What affect does this have on the blade?

Look at that main bolt diameter. I bet the shuttle blade bolt is 3mm and the sceadu blade is 4mm. You can get little brass spacers to fill in the difference. Ifyou can't find them. Go to the train section of your hobby shop and see if they have brass tubing with a 3mm ID and a 4MM OD. Then you can cut it to fit.

As for blade root design it's no biggy Just the root width is an issue. you want it to fit in the blade grip with no vertical play. I think that that part is the same on both ships.

The square or roundness of the blades has little effect on preformance.

550?

I also think the FRP mains that come with the Sceadu kits are 570 not 550. You should be able to swing that still, but watch the tail rotor clearance.
I flew my FRP's on my Rappy and they worked fine. Not 3D blades, but good for everything else.

Brand name...

It is the Brand name of the blades Hirobo used on the Sceadu kits.

AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGHHHHHHHHH

Ok so i get an evening to install new blades and a few little tune ups and the hole in the sceadu blades ARE 4mm as opposed to the shuttle's 3mm holes... and naturally it's WAY too late to run off anywhere to find any brass tubing of any kind to fix it with.

What annoys me the most is the guy at the store said "no problem, they'll fit just fine!
Very similar to when he recommended a futaba 3003 as a 5th servo, whereas Futaba specifically states that it's NOT FOR HELI USE as they are direct drive.
They may be 15 minutes away, but unless they have exactly what you want by part number, a lot of hobby shops REALLY suck...
