Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > raptor build; some interesting finds on the rotorhead

I was working on the raptor 60 tonight and noticed a few interesting things;
1. TT now includes a blade spacer set for thinner blades than the ones furnished with the kit. there is an addendum note packaged with them.

Also included are 8 shim washers to be used when building the tail rotor. These are also new additions to the kit.

2. The main rotor hub is now the more precisely made one that runs truer. There is a silver paint ring on the jesus bolt hole to identify it. They also include (2) .062" washers that fit between the damper bushings and the blade grip bearing on the spindle shaft. Also included are (2) M2 x 12 self tapping screws for the balls on the blade grips. Fritz's web site had said to replace the M2 x 10 with M2 x 12. TT has now included them. You'll have extra M2 x 10's left over.

3. The biggest surprise was the flybar paddles. They are 2 peices now, like the Freya. There is even a hole in the paddle if you want to add extra weight.

4. The instructions also show the correct length for the pitch control links as 43mm instead of the previous kits which showed 42mm.

Interesting.

Greg Richards a friend who flies at my field was flying his R60 with Freya paddles. They seemed to be pretty quick but stable on FFF. I wonder if they thought of the same idea with their new paddles.

jbrundt, I love this in depth build with great pictures of your R60. Very nice, keep it coming. BTW, a friend of mine took the weights out of his Freya paddles and he absolutely loves the lightning fast roll rate, although it takes less precision control from your collective hand. Ah well, he's just a stick banger anyway, he don't know the meaning of smooth flying

The paddles are the same that they have always been on the 60. They are relatively heavy paddles, around 60 grams if I remember, additional weight should not be required but the hole is there if you so decide!

Paddles

Ok guys,
I'm building a R60. Question: Two part paddles, how do the two parts stay together ??

Centrifugal force will keep them together. You could use a drop of CA if you wish but there is really no need.
