I have bought a Helimax Turbofan 2 for my c30 sr-t. Will the stock clutch fit on this fan? The stock fan has two "slots" on it for the clutch, the helimax fan don't have these "slots". It don't understand how the clutch will turn with the fan without these "slots".

It'll work fine when you thread the bolt on. I had to dial indicate mine to get it inside of .009" runout. Be aware of this incase you have any vibe problems.

the Helimax fan does have the slots if it's the 2 piece design, if you do not see them then it is not snapped together all the way.

I have the exact same heli, SR-T, and I just installed the exact same turbo fan II on my clutch. I was also wondering why it doesn't have the slots that the original plastic fan had. I put a couple of drops of blue loctite on the threads and let it cure for 24hrs. So far I've burned 3 tanks of fuel and had no problems. I wish they would have used a left hand thread so the starter isn't always trying to unscrew the fan during startup.

Since the clutch itself also threads onto the crankshaft be sure to tighten it down securely and then tighten down the new threaded fan and follow that by tightening the nut that was used to hold the plastic fan on. With all of these threads tightened against each other they act like "jam" nuts and it shouldn't un-thread itself. As I mentioned a drop or blue loctite shouldn't hurt. Just don't over do it so the loctite is flinging inside the clutch and gets on the liner.

I also installed a 6mm hex for starting and got rid of that plastic starter cone. Nice positive engagement now for cranking the OS32 over.

Well, the Midland web page is about a PITA to navigate. I've been in their shop, though. Small, incredibly cluttered, chock-full of neat stuff.

Blair, I found that Zeal part, quite by accident, on The Empire's site a while back. It showed to be in stock. I wasn't interested in it at the time, so I didn't save it. And now I can't find it again. The phone sales and customer service people are no help; without a number, they're lost.

I'm going to try the part # FlyGuy provided; here's hoping...

Blair,

Got the hex starter from Tower Hobbies.

Go to the beginners postings and scroll the topics by "topic starter". Go to FSfirst topics dated 4/22/02 and you'll see pics and discussion of the hex starter. It fits nicely in the turbo fan and the original plastic one.
